Applications for the 2027 Trainee Nuclear Medicine Technologists Program are closing soon!

Queensland X-Ray is encouraging applications from individuals interested in pursuing a career in nuclear medicine and studying the Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine - Industry Practice) at RMIT University.

As a proud industry partner, Queensland X-Ray provides all clinical training through a unique employment-integrated training model. This approach replaces the traditional 50 weeks of unpaid placement with paid, hands-on clinical experience. Students are employed from day one as Trainee Nuclear Medicine Technologists, gaining practical skills and contributing as valued members of the Queensland X-Ray team.

Applicants must apply directly to Queensland X-Ray. Successful candidates will be endorsed by Queensland X-Ray to enrol in the Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine - Industry Practice) at RMIT University.

Queensland X-Ray’s Medici Medical Centre practice reopens today, following a short closure for refurbishment and the installation of a new MRI machine. The upgraded space offers a fresh, modern environment for patients to access comprehensive medical imaging services.

For 50 years, Queensland X-Ray has been a trusted imaging provider in Toowoomba, continuing to expand and invest in the region. Today, Queensland X-Ray operates seven practices across Toowoomba and the Darling Downs with local on-site radiologists supported by a team committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

The recent upgrades at the Medici Medical Centre practice reflect Queensland X-Ray’s ongoing commitment to investing in the region. Our team looks forward to welcoming patients and continuing to provide high-quality imaging and comprehensive reporting.

Kate Harvey, Associate Vice President of CQU North and Far North Region, Nick Klomp, Vice Chancellor and President of CQU, and Patrick Kelleher, Regional Chief Radiographer for Cairns, recently attended the new CQUniversity Cairns CBD campus for a ceremonial sod turn at the Hartley Street site.

The new Allied Health and Engineering wing at the Cairns campus is expected to be completed by 2028. In the interim, Queensland X-Ray is providing CQU Medical Imaging students with access to our practices to support their learning. We’re proud to partner with CQUniversity to support the education and training of the next generation of radiographers in Far North Queensland.

Queensland X-Ray is pleased to announce the opening of our Cleveland practice at 19-21 Middle Street, at the new Ramsay Surgical Centre.

This relocation to a larger site will allow more patients to be seen with added capacity, significantly reducing wait times. The larger facility will also enable access to an expanded range of imaging services, with the introduction MRI services, marking an important milestone for our Cleveland practice as it continues to invest in delivering comprehensive imaging services for our patients.

Queensland X-Ray is excited to announce that our Cleveland practice will relocate next month to 19-21 Middle Street, at the new Ramsay Surgical Centre.

This move, to a larger site, will increase our appointment availability and expand our service offering, with the introduction of MRI services, making it easier for residents across Cleveland to conveniently access comprehensive medical imaging services.

July 1st marked one year since the Australian Government launched the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP), with Queensland X-Ray, as part of Sonic Healthcare Australia Radiology, a key provider, delivering thousands of bulk-billed scans in the last year.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in Australia, and is too often diagnosed at an advanced stage, when treatment options are limited. The NLCSP is working to change that.

Through the program, our Radiologists have identified many pulmonary nodules, some of which have been proven to be early cancers that may otherwise have gone undetected until the development of late-stage disease.
