During winter, many people manage their cold and flu symptoms at home, meaning official data may not always represent what is happening in our community.

Flutracking is a weekly online survey where you will answer a short set of questions each week about any symptoms you have experienced to help provide a better view of respiratory illness.

βœ… Each and every input helps make FluTracking more representative of the Far West community.

βœ… We are always seeking representation from diverse groups. When registering, you can identify other members of your household, such as children. This helps identify trends amongst age groups.

Buronga HealthOne is proud to be supporting an important local research project focused on improving heart health in our region
The Heart Health Check Community Project is a federally funded research project led by La Trobe University, in partnership with local community members and healthcare providers.
It’s exploring new ways for rural Australians to access a heart health check - whether that’s at home, through a pharmacy, or at a local healthcare service.
Why this matters: less than 1% of eligible Australians currently get a heart health check, despite heart disease being the leading cause of death, both nationally and here in our region.
By taking part, you’ll receive your own heart health check and a better understanding of your risk to heart disease, while also contributing to research that could help shape a new, more accessible model of care for rural communities.
Interested in taking part? Sign up below
www.oneheart.au
If it’s not something you can take part in right now, please consider sharing this with someone else who might be able to.
It’s something just for you and a chance to help create something better for others.
Be smart, check your heart, and take part today.

Congratulations to our very own Jesse, Midwife of the Year for the Far West Local Health District! πŸ’œπŸ«Ά

Jesse Prokop is our Midwife of the Year! 🌟

Jesse works from Buronga HealthOne, providing care to women across the lower sector of Far West LHD including Buronga, Wentworth, Dareton and surrounds. She delivers both antenatal and postnatal care and has been pivotal in the implementation of the new MAPS (Maternity Antenatal Postnatal Service) model of care in Buronga.

Jesse provides women with the knowledge they need to make informed choices and stands beside them as a trusted and compassionate guide throughout their pregnancy and birth journey.

She is described as a strong advocate, ensuring women feel heard, respected, and supported.

Her holistic approach to care reflects the very essence of midwifery, caring not just for the clinical needs of women, but their emotional wellbeing and overall experience. πŸ«ΆπŸ’œ

Congratulations Jesse! Our communities are lucky to have you.

Jesse will progress on to be nominated in the NSW Health Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards to be announced in Sydney later this year.
