💜💜A relationship check-in💜💜

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close, it's a good time to pause and reflect on our relationships.💜

Healthy relationships are ones where we can be ourselves, say what we need, and be taken seriously. A few questions worth sitting with:

• Do I feel able to be myself, or do I hold back to keep the peace?
• Can I say what I want out loud and have my needs taken seriously?
• Are our routines supporting us both, or helping us avoid difficult conversations?
• If nothing changed over the next five years, how would that feel?

There are no right or wrong answers, and this isn't about blame. Reflection is simply a way of understanding what's working and what might need attention.

If something comes up for you, support is available. Counselling can offer a safe, confidential space to talk it through, at your own pace.

From 'why am I like this' to finally feeling normal, one tiny habit, one boundary.

Late afternoon. The room is still. I hear the hum of the fan and the soft click of my pen. A client looks up and says, "why doesn't the system help me", a client Underneath it, the wish is simple: to feel normal again.

We stayed small. One tiny habit that matched their real energy. One boundary so the day stopped leaking everywhere. We mapped both into their plan. Their week didn’t get bigger

My role is to teach how self-doubt develops and keep pointing you back to your strengths, values, choices and inner voice. Confidence grows from there, not from pretending to be fine

I fit sessions to capacity, not to a template. With permission I work alongside your Support Coordinator so nothing clashes. No drama. No double up And the system is catching up. Plans are shifting from be normal to clear outcomes like nervous system regulation and relationship skills. You don’t have to perform neatness to deserve help

The moment I look for is quiet. A small exhale. The look that says, this feels ordinary. Not fixed. Just possible. That’s what belonging sounds like.

If you’re sitting with “why am I like this” and want support that stays small and steady, message me. We can start with one tiny habit or one boundary and go at your pace.

💬 Ever walk out of an appointment thinking, “I only told them half of what I needed to” or “ I can’t remember what they told me”? 🪷

You go in with so much to tell your doctor or specialist. Then they ask a question, you lose your train of thought, and suddenly you can’t remember what you wanted to say.

So many of us know that feeling. When you’re anxious, feeling rushed or worrying about taking up someone’s time, finding your words can be even harder.

A few things that can help:

📝 Before you go, write it down. List what you want to discuss, with the most important things first. You can read from your list or hand it to them.

💬 If you don’t understand, ask: “Could you explain that in a different way?”

📋 If there’s too much to remember, ask: “Could you write that down for me?”

⏸️ If you need time to answer, say: “I need a minute to think about that.”

🤝 If you’d feel more comfortable with support, ask someone you trust to come with you. They can help you remember your questions and take notes.

That appointment is about you. Your questions and concerns deserve attention. You can take notes, ask questions and request a break.

If time is running out, say: “I still have a few things I need to discuss. Can we make a plan to cover them?”

You are not an inconvenience. You deserve to feel heard. 💜

💬 If anxiety makes appointments or everyday situations feel overwhelming, you’re welcome to reach out. Let’s have a chat about what might help you feel more prepared, find your words and feel more confident speaking up.

You don’t have to work it all out on your own. ✨

You’re not forgetting meds, your system is broken.

1 tiny habit + 1 boundary.

That’s the smallest setup I build into care plans when someone keeps missing meds or health routines. Not because you’re careless, but because the routine was never designed around how your brain and body actually work day-to-day 🧠.

A client once said, “why doesn’t the system help me”. We mapped one tiny habit and one boundary into their plan. Their week didn’t get bigger.

Concrete looks like this: the blister pack lives where you already move (next to the kettle), and when something else pings for your attention, it waits until meds are done ☕️. Realistic routines, repetition and small achievable steps build confidence, independence and progress towards larger goals.

Worried this will double up with your Support Coordinator or create drama? With your permission, I work alongside your SC so nothing clashes. I fit sessions to your capacity and keep steps small so support quietly absorbs load, not the other way around 🤝.

And the system is catching up: within the next 6 months, plans are shifting from “be normal” to clear outcomes like nervous system regulation and relationship skills. You don’t have to perform neatness to deserve help ✅.

If you’re missing meds or routines and want a plan your brain will actually keep, message me. Where do you get stuck most, mornings, meds, or admin? 👋

You don't have to fit support into a full life.

6 months.
NDIS goals are shifting from “be normal” to clear outcomes like nervous system regulation and relationship skills. That matters because your plan can be written to meet the life you actually have, not the life you think you should perform.

When your week is already at capacity, support shouldn’t be another item to manage. It should quietly absorb some of what you’re carrying (scheduling pressure, meltdown recovery, relationship strain) so you’re not holding it all alone 😮‍💨. A concrete example: instead of piling on worksheets, we might focus on a reliable downshift you can use before school pick-up or a plain‑English script for a hard call with a provider. That’s support doing work in the background, not demanding more from you.

"why doesn't the system help me" (a client).
You don’t have to perform neatness to deserve help.

And if you already have a Support Coordinator, this isn’t a double up. I work alongside your SC, share only what you want shared, and keep the drama out 🤝.
If you’re thinking, I don’t have the time or brain space for another program, I build supports that tolerate missed sessions, flare ups and executive dysfunction without shame 🫶.

That’s the point: support that fits your capacity, not the other way round.

Want support that absorbs more of the load so you can breathe a little easier? Send me a message or ask your question below 📩.

Stop using your own money for support your NDIS plan already covers.

First session. Quiet room. "why doesn't the system help me" lands between us.

My pen pauses. I hear that line every week, from people who are confused about where to begin or which support is right. Many try to save up, or feel guilty using their plan, as if help should be “extra.” It isn’t.

If you have an NDIS plan, you’re allowed to use your funded supports for counselling, coaching and clinical support with me. No out-of-pocket. 💸🚫 No drama with your Support Coordinator, either. With your permission, I work alongside your SC, fit sessions to your capacity, keep steps small, and make sure nothing clashes.

With that client, we mapped one tiny habit and one boundary to their plan. That was enough to start shifting the day-to-day load. Small, doable, boring. On purpose.

And it lines up with where plans are headed. Within the next 6 months, planners are asking how your supports help you regulate and relate. 🧠🤝 We’re moving from vague “be normal” to clear outcomes around your nervous system and relationship skills.

So if you’re sitting there thinking, “i just want to feel normal,” or worrying about spending your own money, please hear this: accessing what you’re entitled to isn’t selfish. It’s the most responsible way to get steady support, reduce chaos, and build confidence over time. The guilt is costing you more than a session ever will.

Want me to map one tiny habit and one boundary into your current plan with no out-of-pocket and zero SC drama? Send me a message and we’ll start small. 🫶

Grief doesn’t always look like crying. 💛

Sometimes it’s reaching for your phone to tell them something, before remembering they’re not there. Sometimes it’s a song, a smell, a birthday, or an ordinary Tuesday that suddenly brings everything flooding back.

And sometimes grief looks like laughing. Having a good day. Enjoying yourself again - and then wondering whether you should feel guilty for it.

There is no straight line through grief. There’s no timetable, no “right” way to do it, and having a hard day doesn’t mean you’ve gone backwards.

You don’t have to forget someone in order to keep living. You don’t have to “move on” from someone who mattered. Over time, we learn how to carry the love and the loss alongside the life that continues around us.

I’ve created this little reminder to save, screenshot or print for the days when grief feels particularly heavy. And if you need some extra support navigating loss, you don’t have to do it alone. 💜

Counselling isn’t just for when everything has fallen apart. 💛

And it certainly doesn’t mean you’re “crazy” or that there’s something wrong with you.

Sometimes life is just a lot.

Sometimes you need somewhere safe to brain-dump everything that’s been going around in your head. Sometimes you need practical strategies to manage anxiety, stress, relationships or overwhelm. Sometimes you need help making sense of what you’re feeling, building confidence, setting boundaries or working out what comes next.

And sometimes you simply need someone outside of your family and friends who will listen without judgement.

There doesn’t have to be a crisis before you reach out.

If you’ve been thinking about counselling, you’re very welcome to get in touch. Send me a DM, call 0406 943 133, or email [email protected].

You don’t need to have everything worked out before making a referral.

Sometimes people hesitate to reach out because they’re not sure:

• exactly what support is needed
• what the goals should be
• whether counselling is the right fit
• how to explain what has been happening

That’s okay.

A referral can simply start with:

✔ what the person is currently struggling with
✔ what support they already have
✔ any concerns that have been noticed
✔ what they would like to be different
✔ how they prefer to connect
✔ what funding pathway may apply

From there, we can have a conversation and work out what support may be most appropriate.

At Align Independence, I work with individuals, families, carers and professionals across counselling, therapeutic support and disability services.

If you’re unsure whether I’m the right fit for someone, you’re welcome to reach out for a complimentary meet and greet or initial discussion.

📩 Referrals and enquiries are currently welcome.
