What I mean when I say...👀

Ever had your massage therapist say something like, "your body is compensating" and thought, "Cool, sounds important. Absolutely no idea what that means!"

Yep. This series is for you.

I'm starting a new series breaking down words and phrases used in massage clinics in short, simple explanations without the unnecessary anatomy lecture.

Episode 1: Compensation

I've decided I should show my face more so this is my first proper talking-to-camera video so be kind 🫣 I promise I'll get better.

Excellent for mobility amd posture. Opens the chest, especially if you've sat at a desk all day or been driving around for work.

1. Stand against a wall with butt, head and back touching the wall. Feet a few centimetres forward.

2. Raise arms and bend elbows at 90⁰.

3. Try to touch head, upper back, elbows and wrists on wall. Lower back is flat or a slight natural arch. Tuck ribcage down.

4. Slowly slide arms up wall as high as you can without the arms or back leaving the wall, then lower. Repeat.

This stretch is not meant to be painful. Do not try to push past pain. Stretch slowly and meet your body where its at.

Some days you wake up and your body just feels off.
Everything feels heavier.
Muscles feel tight.
Energy is low.
The body is sore for no obvious reason.

Before you start stretching everything.
Cancelling the workout.
Or deciding you need to fix your body.

Pause.
Check in with yourself.
Pay attention to patterns.

Don't fight your body, listen to it.

Save this for those I feel wrecked days, to remind you that maybe things might just be piling up.
