Stay prepared for natural disasters: essential NDSS resources for people living with diabetes

With the increasing impact of natural disasters like cyclones, bushfires, and floods. it's crucial for those living with diabetes to have a solid plan in place. A diabetes plan and emergency kit can significantly reduce health risks during and after such events.

CDEs and allied health professionals play a vital role in supporting your clients.

Encourage them to check if they have an up-to-date diabetes plan and emergency kit, utilising latest resources from the National Diabetes Services Scheme NDSS:

✔️ My Diabetes Plan for Natural Disasters: A checklist available in eight languages to assist with preparation.
✔️ Diabetes and Natural Disasters: Have a Plan. Be Ready: An animated video for people living with diabetes.
✔️ Short Video Series: Four informative videos for health professionals.
✔️ Have a Plan. Be Ready. Poster: A poster for your workplace to promote disaster preparedness.

A warm thank you to everyone who helped make the ADEA SA State Conference 2026 such a valuable and engaging event.

From yesterday’s workshop through to today’s conference program, it has been wonderful to see practical learning, shared discussion and professional connection across the SA diabetes community. Together, the workshop and conference created space for fresh ideas, current perspectives and conversations that can be taken back into practice.

Thank you to our speakers, the SA Program Organising Committee, sponsors and ADEA team for helping shape the event, and to all attendees for bringing such warm engagement across both days.
