While influenza cases are lower than this time last year it is important to remember this can change quickly. It can take up to 2 weeks for the vaccination to take effect so it’s important to be vaccinated sooner than later.

Themed 'Access to anti-inflammatory inhalers for everyone with asthma - still an urgent need'

What better day to spread the word that the Australian Asthma Guidelines have changed than today!

It's not 'just asthma'

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory lung condition that affects the airways and is always present even when symptoms are mild.

It is one of the most common chronic non-communicable diseases that affects over 260 million people and is responsible for over 450,000 deaths each year worldwide.

Asthma management guidelines have changed in the latest update of the Asthma Council's Australian Asthma Handbook.

It's essential that adults and adolescents with asthma receive a correct diagnosis and receive treatment with an anti-inflammatory inhaled corticosteroid-containing regimen. It is not considered appropriate to be managing Asthma with a reliever ‘blue puffer’ alone.

If you currently only have a script for a ‘blue puffer’ you need to make an appointment with your doctor to review your Asthma management.

💠Expect us to be asking about how you are using your puffers!
💠Expect us to be referring you to your doctor if you are purchasing over-the-counter ‘blue puffers’ without a script for an anti-inflammatory puffer.
