Look at our little Queensland champions!

Born on Queensland Day yesterday, baby Ikshvaku and baby Harry are already flying the maroon colours.

With State of Origin just around the corner, these little Queenslanders are ready to cheer on the Maroons. 🏉

Congratulations to both families and welcome to the world, little ones! 🥰

Staff across Metro South have stepped out in their funkiest socks today, in support of CrazySocks4Docs Day. 🧦

Hosted on Friday 5 June, the yearly sock-fest champions doctors, wellness, and supports in place across the hospital for our valuable medicos. 🩺

“Crazy Socks 4 Docs Day is a great reason to get together and remind ourselves of the enormous difference that the support of colleagues and friends can make,” said PA Hospital Executive Director of Medical Services, Dr Kellie Wren.

“By wearing our craziest socks, we are prompted to start conversations about wellbeing, challenge stigma, and highlight the message that seeking help is a sign of strength.” 💙

Popular sock designs this year included animals, food, and medical-themed prints. 💊

A big thank you to everyone who showed up in their best and brightest socks in support of our doctors.

🎉 Happy first birthday Amity Ward!

One year ago today, Redland Hospital welcomed its first patients through the doors of Amity Ward.

Over the past 12 months, Amity Ward has cared for hundreds of patients, becoming an important part of Redland Hospital's expansion and helping more people receive care closer to home.

From nursing and medical teams to allied health, pharmacy, food services, administration, cleaning and support staff, every person plays a role in creating a positive experience for patients.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Amity Ward's first year. Here's to many more years of caring for our community.💖

Across Metro South Health, audiology services are making a difference in unexpected ways. 🦻

For some patients living with autoimmune disease, hearing loss can become part of a much bigger health journey.

Victoria Point resident Rodney Chapman was diagnosed with ANCA vasculitis, a rare condition that can cause inflammation and damage to multiple organs.

After first presenting to Redland Hospital’s Emergency Department seriously unwell, Rodney is now beginning treatment for hearing loss linked to his condition. ❤️‍🩹

“I consider myself very lucky. I was diagnosed quickly… things could be a lot worse,” he said.

Stories like Rodney’s are a reminder that hearing health is about more than sound. 🩺

We asked some of our 2025 graduate nurses and midwives to describe their graduate year in just one word… and the answers say it all.

Last year, this group transitioned from students to clinicians, caring for patients, supporting each other, and becoming an important part of our teams across Bayside Health Service. Now, they’re the ones the next group of graduates look up to! Watch what they had to say.

We're levelling-up cuteness in the Neonatal Ward at Redland Hospital. It’s Kangaroo-a-thon time! Parents are encouraged to embrace kangaroo care (holding babies skin-to-skin) to support newborn development and family bonding. Ormiston mum Rhonda shares how, after days of only touching her premature daughter Lucy’s foot, their first skin-to-skin cuddle made everything “slow down.” She says, “Having Lucy skin-to-skin has been important for bonding... I love the feeling of her being on me.” Even at home, cuddles with Charlotte, now almost two, brought instant calm. Neonatal staff agree: “We always recommend kangaroo care because it fosters bonding and helps regulate baby’s temperature and breathing.” Big thanks to our midwives who...wait for it...crocheted the bonnets for the babies!! Across Metro South Health, our volunteers make an amazing difference to your stay in hospital. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

For the past six years, Redland Hospital volunteer, Barbara has supported patients through ward visits, helping in the kiosk, and creating handmade fiddle blankets for older patients living with dementia and cognitive decline. 🌻

Barbara says even small acts of kindness can help someone feel safe and cared for. 🫶

Alongside volunteers like Barbara, community members Keith and Erika have also donated handmade cognitive boards to support patients needing a little extra comfort and connection.

“Donating activity resources or contributing skills and time in different ways is a lovely way to contribute,” Barbara said. 🤍

This National Volunteer Week (18-24 May), we're saying a big thank you to all of our incredible vollies. 👏✨

Often behind the scenes, chaplaincy teams provide quiet support when it’s needed most in our hospitals. 🌻

“We offer a compassionate presence and listen without judgement,” Chaplain Peter said.

For his wife Margaret, it’s about meeting people where they are.

“Sometimes it’s simply giving families a moment to step away.”

Thanks to all of our Chaplains for their dedicated work here at Redland Hospital. 🤍

Noodles and Splash from Mountview Alpaca Farm paid a special visit to Redland Hospital this week, bringing plenty of smiles and selfies to our staff and patients. 🦙💛

The fluffy duo dropped by as Bayside Health Service recognised National Palliative Care Week.

It was a lovely reminder that small moments can make a big difference.

Thank you to our Palliative Care staff for the support they provide to patients and families across our community.
