Today we had a very special visit from Chris Duve and her family. 💗

Chris has campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds to support local people on their cancer journey.

With Breast Cancer Awareness Month finishing tomorrow, Chris, supported by her family, continued what has become an annual tradition by shaving her head for breast cancer awareness. She then made her way to Colac Area Health to present fuel vouchers to our CEO, Fiona Brew, to help patients with the cost of fuel when travelling for treatment.

Chris’s generosity makes a real difference at a very difficult time in people’s lives. Her advocacy for breast cancer awareness, and her commitment to supporting our community, is truly inspiring.

Thank you, Chris and family, for your courage, compassion and generosity. 💗

🎉 Happy World Occupational Therapy Day! 🎉

Today, 27 October, is World Occupational Therapy Day, and it falls within Occupational Therapy Week (26 October – 1 November). This year’s theme, Participation Matters, shines a spotlight on a foundation of occupational therapy: being able to participate in life is fundamental to our health, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

At Colac Area Health, our Occupational Therapists support people who find it difficult to carry out everyday activities safely and independently, whether due to physical, mental or developmental conditions, or the effects of ageing.

Occupational Therapy in Action is practical, person-centred support that helps people live their best lives. Our team puts this into action by:

✅ Adapting the environment
✅ Modifying tasks
✅ Teaching new skills
✅ Providing education
✅Accessing support

Through their compassion, creativity and expertise, our OTs empower people to achieve greater independence and participate fully in daily life.

Thank you to our incredible Occupational Therapists for the difference you make across our community every day. 💙

Walk For Respect💜✋

Family violence is still an unacceptable issue, affecting every postcode, in every community, in every state across Australia.

Rosie Batty and the Rotary Club of Colac West invite you to join your local community at the Walk for Respect on 18 October in Memorial Square, and say no to domestic violence.

You can show your support and help raise awareness of the event by:

Placing the Walk for Respect poster in your common areas and lunch rooms
Leading your team to attend and walk around Memorial Square together
Bringing a marquee and/or banners to promote your business and your community leadership in saying no to domestic violence

Purple is the colour of the day. Everyone is encouraged to show their support simply by turning up and standing with the Colac community.

We look forward to your support. Together, we can walk toward a safer community.

🎉 Happy National Pharmacy Technician Day! 🎉

Each year, this day celebrates the skills and contributions of pharmacy technicians across Australia, and today we’re proud to recognise ours.

At CAH, our pharmacy technicians are a vital part of the hospital team. Working side by side with our pharmacists, they keep our pharmacy departments running smoothly and deliver the precise technical work that underpins safe, quality patient care.

Their day-to-day work includes:

💊 Preparing and supplying medicines to patients and clinical areas
💊 Sharing medicines information with our patients
💊 Managing our dispensaries
💊 Keeping stock moving through the pharmacy and out on the wards
💊 Compounding medicines

Our technicians are committed health professionals who are always building on their skills and knowledge, so that our patients and our health service receive the very best care.

Thank you to our pharmacy technicians for everything you do to keep our patients safe and make sure medicines are there when they’re needed across our health service. 💙
