💙 Congratulations to the NT Dragonflies!

The Northern Territory Dragonflies have returned home after a memorable three days competing at the 2026 Marie Little Shield in Victoria.

Across the tournament, the team showed determination, adaptability and plenty of growth, finishing their campaign with a win and a draw and securing seventh place overall.

Just as importantly, the weekend was about more than the results. The players built confidence, strengthened friendships and represented the Northern Territory with pride both on and off the court.

Somerville Community Services is proud to support the Dragonflies through our partnership with Netball NT, helping create opportunities for athletes with an intellectual disability to compete on the national stage, develop their skills and be part of a strong and inclusive sporting community.

Well done to every athlete, coach, official, family member and supporter involved in the 2026 campaign. We are proud to have played a small part in supporting this fantastic team. 💙

Today, teams across Darwin, Palmerston, Alice Springs and Katherine came together for special morning teas to recognise R U OK? Day.

It was a simple but meaningful opportunity to connect with colleagues, check in with one another and remind ourselves that a genuine conversation can make a real difference.

Our teams also delivered special R U OK? Day cupcakes to participant homes, bringing a little extra joy to the day and creating another opportunity to connect. We heard they were very well received and for some, they truly made their day. 🧁💛

At Somerville, we know that supporting wellbeing starts with creating spaces where people feel comfortable reaching out, listening without judgement and asking, “Are you OK?”

Thank you to everyone who took part across our regions and helped make the day so thoughtful and positive.

And while R U OK? Day gives us an important reminder, checking in with the people around us is something we can do every day.

Our annual Somerville Staff Awards Night was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the dedication, care and commitment of our people across the Northern Territory.

The evening celebrated staff achievements, Years of Service milestones and the many ways our team members contribute to the lives of the people we support and to the wider Somerville community.

A very special congratulations to Paige Leroux, who was named the recipient of the 2026 Margaret Somerville Award. 🏆

The Margaret Somerville Award is one of our most significant staff honours, recognising an outstanding team member whose contribution reflects Somerville’s mission, vision and values.

Congratulations, Paige, on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you to every staff member who was nominated, recognised or celebrated on the night.

Most importantly, thank you to all our people for the professionalism, compassion and commitment you bring to Somerville every day. 💙

Marie enjoyed one of her favourite treats, a warm hot chocolate, while taking in the beautiful scenery and sea breeze at East Point.

Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the best moments, and it was wonderful to see Marie relaxing and enjoying the day in a place she loves. 💕

💙 Somerville Participants & Family Guardians Evening

It was wonderful to come together at Jingili Water Gardens for our annual Participants & Family Guardians Evening.

The evening was a chance for participants, families, guardians and our team to enjoy some time together in a relaxed setting, share a meal, catch up and connect outside of the usual day-to-day.

With plenty of conversation, good company and a special cake-cutting during the evening, it was lovely to see everyone enjoying the occasion together.

Events like this are an important opportunity for us to strengthen relationships, listen, and continue building a Somerville community where participants and the people important to them feel connected and valued.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so enjoyable. 💙

Happy Birthday, Thomas! 🎂

Thomas recently celebrated his birthday in a way that was completely his own. Choosing to host a BBQ at his unit and inviting everyone to come along and celebrate with him.

From planning the BBQ to choosing his favourite cake, Thomas made the decisions for his special day and enjoyed sharing the occasion with those around him. ❤️

At Somerville, moments like these are about more than celebrating a birthday. They’re about choice, independence and supporting people to live the life they choose.

We hope you had a fantastic birthday, Thomas, and that the year ahead brings many more happy moments and great memories! 🎈

An evening of good food and great company in Katherine!

There’s something special about gathering around the fire, sharing a meal and simply enjoying time together.

Our Katherine participants and team enjoyed a wonderful evening filled with good food, plenty of laughs and memorable moments.

It’s often the simple moments that make the best memories.
