We're excited to officially launch Embodied Calm, our new 8-week NDIS workshop designed to support emotional wellbeing, nervous system regulation, and mind-body connection.

Created specifically for NDIS participants, this trauma-informed group program combines mindfulness, gentle body-based practices, psychoeducation, reflection, and supportive group discussion in a safe and welcoming environment.

Together, we'll explore practical tools to help participants better understand stress, overwhelm, emotional regulation, and the connection between the body and mind — while building confidence, self-awareness, resilience, and a greater sense of calm in everyday life.

Facilitated by our clinical director, Niveen and senior psychologist Dr Marta, this program is designed to be accessible, practical, and supportive for participants seeking meaningful tools for daily life.

The Yogic Prayer Before Eating is a simple practice of gratitude that encourages us to pause before a meal and bring awareness to the nourishment before us.

In the yogic tradition, food is considered more than fuel. The prayer reminds us to acknowledge the energy, care and effort that brought the meal to our plate, while honouring the sacred act of nourishment.

According to Ayurvedic philosophy, food is offered to Agni, the digestive fire, where it is transformed into nourishment for both the body and mind. By slowing down, expressing gratitude and eating mindfully, we can develop a deeper connection with the food we consume.

Much of my home practice changed postpartum. I naturally moved towards gentler asana and slower movement to honour where my body and mind were at. It felt less about pushing and more about listening and softening.

Lately though, I’ve noticed a shift, moving toward a practice with more heat and focus.

So recently I’ve revisited stronger, more extended work in my home practice, beginning with Natarajasana. I love this posture because it builds such a strong foundation for deeper backbends, balancing work and arm balances. It strengthens the legs and core, opens the chest and shoulders, stretches the hip flexors and thighs, and asks for presence and concentration through drishti (focused gaze).

I rarely have time to film practice these days (most of it happens quietly in the dark before everyone wakes up, or squeezed into a focused 20 minute pocket while toddler life unfolds around me 🥲), so here’s a throwback that both demonstrates the posture and reminds me to keep showing up for myself in the ways I can.

A little reminder that life moves in seasons. There are times to soften, rest and hold gently… and there are also times to strengthen, deepen and recommit.

Right now, this feels like the practice I need.
