Did you know?

The Legend of Zelda was inspired by creator Shigeru Miyamoto’s childhood adventures!

As a child, Miyamoto loved exploring the countryside around his home in Japan, discovering forests, caves and hidden places along the way.

That feeling of exploration and discovering something unexpected helped inspire the original Legend of Zelda and became a huge part of what the Zelda games are all about.

Nearly 40 years later, players are still wandering off in the wrong direction because surely there must be something hidden over there. 😂

Did you know?

Pikachu wasn't originally planned to be the face of Pokémon!

When Pokémon first launched, Clefairy was considered as one of the main characters to represent the series.

But Pikachu quickly became a fan favourite, and after being chosen as Ash's partner in the Pokémon animated series, the little yellow Pokémon became an international gaming icon!

Today, Pikachu is one of the most recognisable video game characters in the world.

Did you know?

The strange language spoken by characters in The Sims is called Simlish!

Instead of using a real language, the developers created Simlish so players wouldn't hear the same understandable conversations repeated over and over again.

Even better, real musicians have recorded versions of their songs entirely in Simlish for The Sims games!

Imagine becoming a famous singer and then heading into a studio to re-record your song in a language that doesn't actually exist. Gaming is magnificent nonsense sometimes!
