🌿 The breath: creating space for choice

The breath is the oldest medicine known to humankind; it is a built-in pharmacy that requires no prescription, only your awareness.

Our breath is something we carry with us everywhere, yet how often do we stop to notice it?

Across many cultures and traditions, the breath has long been central to practices of wellbeing, awareness and connection.

Beyond simply keeping us alive, our breathing is closely connected to our nervous system and how we experience the world around us.

When life feels overwhelming, we can find ourselves caught up in our thoughts, emotions and familiar reactions. Sometimes, we become so busy getting through the day that we lose touch with what is happening within us, what we need, and how we’d actually like to experience our lives.

🌬️ What if creating more space begins with something as simple as your breath?

By bringing awareness to our breathing, we create an opportunity to pause, notice and reconnect with ourselves.

With practice, we can become more familiar with our body’s responses, recognise when we’re caught in familiar patterns, and create more room to choose how we respond.

Not to control every feeling or force ourselves to be calm, but to become more present with what is happening and more conscious of how we want to move forward.

For me, this is what breathwork is about.

Creating space to listen inwardly.
Creating space to become aware of what we want more of in life.
Creating space to nurture our relationships with ourselves and the people we love.
Creating space to move beyond simply getting through life and towards truly enjoying it.

🤍 More breath. More choice. More you.

🌿 Breathwork: Creating Space for Choice

I’m hosting a morning of intention setting, a 90-minute guided conscious connected breathwork practice, and time for reflection and debrief.

Together, we’ll explore breath awareness, learn about the nervous system and discover ways to develop a simple breathing practice that can become part of everyday life.

Daily chats on the way to kindergarten.

“The whole of you is the mind.”
— Vimala Thakar, Meditation in Daily Life

We often think of the mind as something that lives inside our heads. But what if understanding ourselves asks us to listen to more than our thoughts?

To notice what we feel in our bodies, the reactions that arise before we have words for them, and the patterns we carry without even realising.

Perhaps knowing ourselves is not just about thinking differently, but about becoming aware of ourselves more completely.

Vimala’s work is quite aligned with the e RBM teaches I have learnt. And Rebirthing Breathwork Mastery is a way I have found access to becoming more aware of myself more completely.

🌿 Breathwork: Creating Space for Choice

Hello everyone,

I'm hosting a breathwork morning in Gisborne on Saturday 14 November, from 9 am–12 pm, through Macedon Ranges Breathwork.

The morning will include intention setting, a 90-minute guided conscious connected breathing practice, and time for reflection and debrief.

We'll explore how becoming more aware of our breath can help us understand our nervous system, recognise familiar patterns and create more choice in how we respond to everyday life.
I'll also share ways to develop a simple breathing practice that you can incorporate into your daily life, helping you reconnect with yourself and become more intentional about how you want to live.

This is a gentle opportunity to slow down, reflect on what you'd like to invite more of into your life, and connect with yourself in a supportive environment. No previous experience is necessary.

🌸 Are you blossoming as you come out of your winter cocoon?

I am. 🌿

Lately I’ve been feeling really open, creative and ready to bloom getting back into artwork, spending more time in the garden, noticing the little things growing around me and feeling curious about where I want to flourish next.

And it has me thinking…

Where would you like to flourish more in your life?

What parts of yourself are asking for more space?

How are your relationships?

What are you passionate about, curious about or wanting to create?

Breathwork can be a place to slow down and reconnect with yourself not just when things are difficult, but when you’re ready to explore what more is possible for you.

I’m here for all of it. 🌱

I currently offer:

🌿 One-on-one breathwork sessions
🌿 Couples breathwork sessions
🌿 Small group sessions in your home
🌿 Community breathwork sessions

Tomorrow I’m also running a community breathwork session at Gisborne Library and it has officially booked out! 💛

If you’d like to work with me, you can send me a DM to book a session or use the Calendly link in my bio to find a time that suits you.

Perhaps this is your season to bloom. 🌸

How can I get everything done that I need to?

Work.
Kids.
Friends.
Family.
Relationships.
Hobbies.
Housework.
Garden work.
All the things that life asks of me…

I’ve recently started asking myself a different question:

How do I intend to create my life?
What do I really want?
What lights me up?
What makes me feel good?
What feels wholesome and nourishing?

Rather than constantly asking myself how I can fit everything in, I’m beginning to look at the different areas of my life and notice what is actually happening within each one.

Where am I thriving?
Where am I building?
Where would I like to grow?
What am I proud of?
What brings me happiness?
And perhaps, what no longer feels nourishing or aligned?

There’s something powerful about simply noticing.

When I slow down enough to see my relationship with each area of my life more clearly, it becomes easier to feel where I want to place my energy.

Not because I need to perfect every area.

But because I get to consciously decide what I want to create.

A life that feels nourishing.
A life that has room for connection, growth, creativity, rest and joy.
A life that feels like mine.

And perhaps the question isn’t:

“How do I fit everything into my life?”

But:

“How do I want to create my life to be?”

🌱

If you’d like some support exploring these questions for yourself, I offer 1:1 sessions where we can slow down, connect inwards and explore what you would genuinely like to create in your life.

Feel free to send me a PM or use my booking link.
I’d love to work with you.

Balance isn’t about holding everything perfectly.

It’s about noticing where you’re putting your energy and asking yourself...

✨ Is this how I want to be living?

✨ What are my dreams?

✨ Can I ask for more from life?

✨ What’s one small step I could take towards more ease?

✨ How can I create a better relationship with my partner? My children? Myself?

✨ What would it feel like to respond to life, rather than simply react to it?

For me, breathwork has become one of the most powerful creative tools for creating my life with more intention. Not because it always changes my circumstances overnight (although sometimes it does!), but because it changes how I meet them.

If you’re curious about experiencing that for yourself, I’d love to have you join me for this Saturday’s group breathwork session.

Sometimes all it takes is one conscious breath to begin creating something different for yourself. 💛

If you’re wondering what a group breathwork session looks like, here’s a little glimpse from a recent retreat 🌿

Breathwork offers an opportunity to slow down, step away from the busyness of daily life, and reconnect with yourself through the power of your breath.

It can support nervous system regulation, stress reduction, emotional wellbeing, greater self-awareness, and a deeper sense of connection within yourself and your relationships.

Every person’s experience is unique, there is something incredibly powerful about coming together in a safe and supportive space and breathing alongside others.

I’m excited to now be offering my first intimate group breathwork session in Gisborne.

Feeling nervous before a breathwork session is more common than many people realise.

Sometimes people book in and then cancel, reschedule or don’t make it to the session and I don’t see this as failure. Often, it tells me there is already a lot moving internally.

In breathwork we often say the process begins when you book, because material, emotions, resistance, fear, excitement or uncertainty can start to arise before we even meet.

Learning more about yourself, sitting with yourself, and allowing yourself to be seen in vulnerability can feel big.

Sometimes support looks like breathing together.
Sometimes support looks like talking first.
Sometimes it looks like taking more time.

Wherever you’re at, there’s space for that 🤍

Children learn regulation in relationship.

We learnt, or didn’t learn, this ourselves as children too. Our parents were doing the best they could with the resources, awareness and support they had at the time.

Before children can fully regulate on their own, they co-regulate through us. Through our tone, rhythm, movement, presence, play and connection. They learn by mirroring the nervous systems around them.

Many of us are parenting while carrying our own stress patterns, overwhelm, activation, shutdown, people pleasing, rushing, pressure and survival responses.

Sometimes this can look like:
Yelling more than we want to.
Always hustling.
Feeling triggered constantly.
Feeling touched out.
Struggling to play.
Feeling disconnected from our partners, children or ourselves.

Nervous system work isn’t about becoming calm all the time.

It’s about creating enough safety in our bodies that we have more space to choose how we respond.

Because nervous systems don’t only learn through information.
They learn through repeated experiences.

Breathwork can support embodied learning — learning beyond cognition — giving the body opportunities for rest, awareness, connection and new experiences of safety.

Not perfection.
Not never being triggered.

But noticing when we are.
Finding space between the trigger and the reaction.
Creating more choice.

Slowly building more capacity for connection, repair, play and presence.

To find more joyful moments with our family 💛
