Toes were a tappin’, boots were a scootin’, and the large Korongee audience had a great time with favourites like Achy Breaky Heart - which caused a rush to the dancefloor.
Thank you to Lauren, Leanne, Binda, Tash and Korongee residents for a darn good time!

Designated by the United Nations General Assembly, World Elder Abuse Awareness Day raises awareness of the abuse, mistreatment and neglect experienced by older people.

It is a time for communities to come together, speak up against elder abuse and challenge the ageism that often drives it.

For more than ten years, COTA Tasmania has marked World Elder Abuse Awareness Day through our annual regional walks, bringing communities together to stand in solidarity, start conversations and advocate for a safer, more respectful Tasmania for older people.

Currently, the Lifelong Respect Walks are held in three regions across Tasmania. COTA (Council On The Ageing) Tasmania invite you to join them in the walks. Please click on the link below to register for the walk in Hobart.

“The true impact of our volunteers is making people feel seen, valued, and less alone. For our residents, this is important in a world where everyone is busy and distracted. You choose to give your time freely... and what you give matters deeply. Thank you from Team Glenview and on behalf of the Board," said Damien, our CEO, when thanking our volunteers over coffee and cake at Korongee Cafe. -

Tuesday was an exciting day for Glenview as the first residents moved into Norfolk, our newly refurbished care wing at Windsor (formerly Merton).

Norfolk is the result of months of hard work by Felicity, our Operations Manager, and Nathan, our Maintenance Manager, who have helped coordinate this project. The new rooms are available and include brand new furniture, private ensuites, and a range of other amenities.

Thanks to all residents and staff for your patience and understanding during the building work. Thank you to Anita, RN, who shared some of her stunning photos of Tassie for wall artwork.

It is hoped that the residents of St John's will wander up the hall and enjoy the new lounge rooms, balcony and sitting areas at Norfolk - just as they did today to celebrate the opening.

Have you experienced elder abuse? Help us turn your lived experience into action. COTA Tasmania is partnering with Engender Equality to deliver Older Voices for Change in 2026.

This program supports older Tasmanians who have experienced elder abuse to safely share their story and raise awareness in the community.

You will receive training and ongoing support. You choose how you participate, whether through media, online sessions or community presentations. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with.

If you or someone you care about has experienced elder abuse, we encourage you to join the program and help us create real change.

Registrations are now open. Download the EOI form:
