What is a DIEP flap?

A “free flap” is a term used by plastic surgeons to refer to a piece of tissue (in this case, fat and skin from the lower abdomen) with the blood vessels that nourish it. A free flap can be moved from one part of the body to another using microsurgery.

The DIEP flap can be performed at the time of mastectomy, or at any time after a mastectomy has been performed.

Fleur-de-Lis Abdominoplasty - where a standard abdominoplasty only removes excess skin in a horizontal direction, the Fleur de Lis technique is used when it is necessary to remove excess skin in both vertical and horizontal directions. 6 months post breast reduction + fat grafting L

In all cases, breast implants are not lifetime devices and need to be replaced after 10 to 15 years and in some women earlier.

-Procedure - Bilateral remove & replace breast implants with lift  
-Hours in Surgery: 3-4 Hours
-Recovery: 1 week off work, no lifting or exercising for 8 weeks.
-No driving for 2 weeks.
-Duration of stay: Overnight stay at the hospital.
-No Smoking 6 weeks before or after surgery
-Photo taken 8 weeks after the surgery
