Occupational Therapists are renowned for looking beyond where a child CAN or cannot complete a skill. Instead the focus is on HOW they complete it. This is established early on in movement patterns to ensure the correct foundations are laid to support further development of motor skills as they grow. This could be a as simple as crawling; ensuring the correct crawling pattern is achieved will assist in further cross crawl patterns such as walking, running and hand eye coordination required for all reading, writing and sporting skills.
