Is it Anxiety or Excitement?
Have you ever noticed your heart racing before a presentation, an important meeting, a new opportunity, or even a special event?
Many of us immediately label these feelings as anxiety.
Yet the interesting thing is that anxiety and excitement can feel remarkably similar in the body.
* increased heartbeat
* strange sensations in the stomach
* increased energy
* heightened alertness
The difference is often not the sensation itself, but the meaning we give it.
Anxiety tends to focus on what might go wrong.
Excitement tends to focus on what might go right.
Both are future-oriented states.
Both arise when we are thinking about something that has not yet happened.
The next time you notice those familiar sensations, pause and ask yourself:
"Could this be excitement preparing me for something important?"
Sometimes a small shift in perspective can transform apprehension into possibility.
