WORLD LIPOEDEMA DAY 💜

What many people don’t realise is that lipoedema is not simply “larger legs”, weight gain, or fluid retention. It is a chronic condition that affects connective tissue and fat distribution, most commonly in women. And it can also be present in thin bodies too!

As lipoedema progresses, symptoms can become more noticeable and may impact comfort, mobility, confidence, and quality of life.

⚠️ Common signs may include:

💜 Easy bruising

💜 Tender or painful fatty tissue

💜 A feeling of heaviness in the legs

💜 Swelling that worsens throughout the day

💜 A distinct “cuff” at the ankles or wrists

💜 Changes in skin and tissue texture

One of the reasons awareness matters is that many women live with symptoms for years before receiving answers.

🚫 Lipoedema is not obesity.
🚫 It is not lymphoedema.
🚫 It is not simply water retention.

It is a recognised medical and metabolic condition that deserves greater awareness, understanding and support.

The good news is that while there is currently no “cure”early identification and conservative treatment can help reduce symptoms and improve outcomes.

🤲 At Body Rituals, we support clients living with lipoedema through various lymphatic therapies and personalised care designed to help manage swelling, discomfort and tissue congestion.
