Here is a story from one of our NDIS participants who has recently lost funding and is now facing the very real and difficult consequences of that decision.

We encourage you to take the time to listen and read her story.

It is heartfelt, beautifully written and, at the same time, devastating. It gives a very personal insight into what life looks like when the supports someone relies on are taken away, not through statistics, reports or assessments, but through the words of the person actually living it.

This is her life, in her own words.

Behind every funding decision is a person, a life, a family and a future that can be profoundly affected. Her letter provides a powerful reminder of what the loss of supports can mean in everyday life and the impact it can have on a person's independence, safety, wellbeing and ability to simply live their life.

We wanted to share her story because sometimes the most powerful way to understand the impact of these decisions is simply to listen to the person experiencing it.

Disability Support Worker – Officer, Victoria

Experience Life is a dedicated not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting people with disability to live meaningful, empowered lives.
We are currently seeking a compassionate, reliable and experienced female Disability Support Worker (at the participants’ request) to support two female participants living in neighbouring units in Officer, Victoria.

Applicants must be willing to join our team directly through Experience Life and be available to cover ongoing overnight shifts from Monday to Sunday overnight when required.

Current shifts available
• Shared-care active overnight shifts
• Thursday and Sunday fortnightly, 10:00pm – 6:00am.

Your role will include
• Providing 1:1 transfers using a hoist and sling
• Assisting with personal care and manual handling
• Supporting participants with complex care needs
• Working confidently in a fast-paced environment and moving between two neighbouring units
• Administering medication in accordance with participant care plans
• Being comfortable working around animals
• Building strong, respectful and positive relationships with both participants.

What you will need
• NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one
• Current First Aid certificate
• Current CPR certificate
• A positive attitude, empathy and a genuine desire to make a difference
• Willingness to learn and make a reliable, long-term commitment.

Exciting news from Experience Life!

We’re very happy to announce that Experience Life is now authorised to provide Attendant Care services to TAC participants under the Transport Accident Act 1986 (the Act).

This is an exciting new chapter for Experience Life and means we can now support people who are accessing TAC funding with the same personalised, compassionate and individualised support that we’re known for.

We’re incredibly proud to continue growing the services we offer and, most importantly, creating more opportunities to support people to live life on their terms.

There is always plenty happening behind the scenes at Experience Life!
