I was recently invited to a networking event starting at 6:45am. 😳
That's two hours before my natural wake time.
As a sleep consultant, my first thought wasn't "great opportunity." It was: "That's sleep deprivation."
Then came the self-doubt. Am I being too precious?
In my latest blog post I get honest about some things that people in general don't seem aware of:
❌ Your chronotype is genetic — not a character flaw
❌ What mistimed sleep actually does to your brain
❌ Why night owls are not who people think they are
❌ The real reason "just go to bed earlier" isn't helpful
And here's what I know for certain:
🌙 Forcing yourself into early mornings isn't a virtue — it's a biology mismatch
🌙 Night owls aren't lazy
🌙 One bad night costs more than most people realise
🌙 If your mantra is "I'll sleep when I'm dead" — the research suggests you're fast tracking the timeline
Whether you're a lifelong night owl or someone who's been forcing themselves into early starts for years — this one's for you.

💤 PS. Drop a 🦉 in the comments if you're a night owl
Recently, I was invited to an early morning networking event. The kind where ambitious professionals gather while most people are only just opening their eyes.
