Happy King's Birthday long weekend to everyone in Victoria.

We hope today looks like whatever you need it to whether that's getting out, catching up with people you love, or simply doing nothing at all.

A note for our community

Our office is closed today, but our support workers are out there doing what they do.

If you need to reach us for anything urgent, you know how to find us. We'll be back fully operational tomorrow.

Take care of yourselves. See you Tuesday ☕

One of the most common things we hear from new participants: 'I don't really know what I'm allowed to spend my funding on.

And honestly? That confusion is understandable. The NDIS is complex, and not everyone gets a clear explanation when their plan is approved.

So let's clear a few things up.

Your funding follows your goals not a pre-set list

NDIS supports are meant to help you work toward the goals in your plan. That means the right supports look different for every single person.

What works for someone else might not be in your plan and that's okay. What matters is whether a support is reasonable, necessary, and linked to your goals.

One thing worth checking now

With the end of financial year coming up on 30 June, it's a good time to look at how your budget is tracking. Unspent funds don't roll over.

Not sure where you stand? Reach out. That's exactly what we're here for.

Today is Mabo Day the close of National Reconciliation Week 2026.

This year's theme is 'All In'. And we've been sitting with what that actually means for us as a care provider.

What 'all in' looks like in care

It means acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the lands we work on every day, not just in a footer.

It means understanding that for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the history of 'care' in this country carries real pain. Institutions. Removals. Systems that harmed the people they were meant to help.

We can't undo that history. But we can be part of building something better.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands across Melbourne's west and beyond, and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Reconciliation is a practice, not a moment. We're committed to being all in every day.

"There's a lot that happens before a support worker arrives at someone's home.

Rosters are checked. Notes are read. Handovers happen. Questions get answered.

It's not glamorous. But it's the part that makes the care consistent.

The team behind the team

At Caring Lotus, our support staff are backed by a coordination team who work hard to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Right worker. Right time. Right information. Every time.

That kind of consistency doesn't happen by accident. It's built deliberately and we're proud of the people who make it happen every single day.

"I don't even know where to begin Caring Lotus is one of the best support worker providers that I've had the pleasure of working with. Highly professional, quick responses and wonderful personalities the team are amazing at helping through every step of the way. 🖤" Olivia Thompson

Words like these stop us in our tracks.

Not because we're looking for praise but because they remind us what this work is really about.

What 'every step of the way' actually looks like

It means picking up the phone quickly. It means knowing a participant's name, their preferences, and their goals not just their file.

It means the same warmth on a difficult day as on an easy one.

That's the standard our team holds themselves to. And when someone like Olivia takes the time to share that, we feel it.

Thank you, Olivia. Reviews like this mean everything to our team. 🖤
