๐ŸŒŸ Every young person deserves the chance to discover their potential, and to build new skills.

Here at Muscular Dystrophy Australia, we are thrilled to partner with Woolworths Group and Fujitsu to bring Mini Woolies to our community. The program is launching soon and provides young people with disabilities multiple opportunities to develop independence and confidence as they practice real-world skills in a supportive environment.

โ€œSometimes, you become quite good friends with them.โ€ ๐Ÿ’ฌ

For Mary, our support group lunches are more than just getting together, itโ€™s also a chance to build friendships, sharing experiences, and connecting with people who truly understand.

Whether you've been before or are thinking about coming for the first time, our next Adult Support Group Lunch in Victoria's North-West is on Saturday, 18 July! We'd love to welcome you. ๐Ÿ’™

We had a blast at Camp MDA: Connecting Little Legends last week, a school holidays program designed especially for children aged 6-11 with neuromuscular conditions.

The morning was spent on a pirate-themed ocean adventure ๐Ÿ๏ธ facilitated by the Mini BOSS Incursions. In the afternoon, we worked together to create a boardgame! The end result was an outer space themed game, with black holes that made you skip a turn, shooting stars that shot you far ahead of your opponents, and aliens as the ultimate wildcard. ๐ŸŒ

We can wait to see you all at our next Camp MDA: Connecting Little Legends event in September. Make sure to register here https://mda.org.au/camp-mda-connecting-little-legends

July is Disability Pride Month - a time to recognise and honour the history, identity, and lived experiences of people with disability. ๐ŸŽ‰

Disability Pride Month began as a continuation of the disability rights movement, which has long fought for visibility, equality, and the right to live free from discrimination and barriers.

Weโ€™re proud to share reflections from our community, and we believe that together, these voices reflect what Disability Pride Month is about: recognition, rights, and the belief that disabled people belong in every space.

This year, we have had our most successful tax appeal yet - thanks to you! ๐Ÿ‘ The generosity of our community is highly impactful for children like Oscar, and their families.

Your support funds vital research into many rare diseases. For the 41,000+ people in Australia who live with a neuromuscular condition, this research could not be more crucial.

Oscar's parents, Lisa and Brendan have shared a message of gratitude directly with you. ๐Ÿ’™

Meet Jackie ๐Ÿ‘‹our wonderful Fundraising Coordinator here at Muscular Dystrophy Australia. Each day, you will find her working tirelessly on all of our fundraising initiatives, including our Tax Appeal!

With a background in Public Policy, she blends thoughtful, analytical thinking with a deeply human approach - turning ideas into fundraising initiatives that truly make an impact for people living with neuromuscular conditions and their families.

A self-described people-person, Jackie loves connecting with others, hearing their stories, and seeing the world through different perspectives. When sheโ€™s not at work, youโ€™ll often find her travelling or out running - and sheโ€™s no stranger to putting that passion to good use, taking on events like Run Melbourne to help raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Australia along the way ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ
