๐Ÿฉท โ€œAdd this to my digital library.โ€ ๐Ÿ’š

Thatโ€™s the secret this family is glad they shared. Dying to Know Day is officially this Saturday, 8 August - a national day encouraging Australians to talk about death, dying and grief, because these conversations, however uncomfortable, help us understand our own wishes and support the people we love.

It might be sharing your funeral wishes, writing down family stories, or simply telling someone what matters most to you. Whatever the secret, sharing it can be a gift to the people left behind.

Last month we were proud to be part of the Circle of Care, a Community Expo held in the lead-up to this important day - bringing our community together to start exactly these kinds of conversations.

Want to find something happening near you? Head to dyingtoknow.au to find a local event.

๐Ÿ’š A heartfelt thank you to Freemasons Foundation Victoria & Blackburn United Lodge ๐Ÿฉท

Today, we were delighted to welcome Matilde from Freemasons Foundation Victoria and Ian from Blackburn United Lodge to Eastern Palliative Care, where they joined our CEO, Gaylene Coulton, for a special thank you visit.

Through their recent generous donation of $12,200, we have been able to purchase essential equipment to support people receiving palliative care at home, in our community.

This gift is part of a remarkable legacy of support. Over the past four years, Freemasons Foundation Victoria and Blackburn United Lodge have donated more than $50,000 to Eastern Palliative Care, making a meaningful difference to the lives of countless clients and families across Melbourne's east.

We are incredibly grateful not only for this latest contribution, but also for their ongoing commitment, compassion and belief in the importance of quality specialist palliative care.

Thank you for helping us continue to provide comfort, dignity and care when it matters most. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฉท

๐Ÿ™ A huge Thank you to everyone who generously supported our recent Tax Appeal - together, you raised an incredible $132,000! ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’š

Because of your kindness and generosity, families facing some of lifeโ€™s hardest moments feel supported, reassured and less alone.

For carers like Jan Daniher, knowing help was only a phone call away brought enormous relief. When things felt uncertain or overwhelming, there was always someone there to listen, guide and support.

These donations go directly to our 24/7 on-call service - helping people remain at home, surrounded by familiarity, comfort and those they love.

We are so grateful to have so many people taking part to make this possible. On behalf of our clients, families and staff - thank you for helping bring peace of mind when it matters most ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Introducing the Legendary Lachie โ€“ Running 80km for EPC ๐Ÿ‘

On Saturday 28 November 2026, 28-year-old Melbourne local Lachie is taking on the challenge of a lifetime: running 80km along the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail - from Lilydale to Warburton and back - in support of Eastern Palliative Care.

๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฉท Lachieโ€™s connection to EPC is personal. His grandmother came into EPCโ€™s care in 2022, and as her health changed in 2023, EPC was there for the whole family - regular visits from nurses and palliative support clinicians, guidance when things felt uncertain, and a 24-hour on-call service the family could lean on.

In Lachieโ€™s words:

โ€œLife is too short to wait for the perfect time to challenge yourself, so start now, because none of us knows what lies around the corner.โ€

Having run a marathon before, Lachie is doubling that distance - training up to 1,380km, with long runs of 30โ€“40km back-to-back on some weekends - all to help EPC continue supporting families through one of lifeโ€™s hardest chapters.

๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฉท Support Lachieโ€™s run and help EPC be there for more families like his:

๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’š What a day at the Circle of Care Community Expo! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฉท

Today we came together at the Ringwood RSL for the Circle of Care Community Expo for Dying to Know Day โ€” and what a turnout it was! Thank you to everyone who joined us to learn, connect, and open up conversations about death, dying, and living well.

A huge shout out to the incredible Shona from Dovida, who basically pulled this whole event together โ€” none of this would have happened without her incredible organisational skillls and passion! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿซถ

๐Ÿ™ Thank you to Matthew Gregg MP for opening the event for us, and to the sensational Lyn from Ringwood RSL for hosting us and helping make the day run so smoothly.

For 50 years, NAIDOC Week has celebrated the voices, culture and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year's theme, 50 Years of Deadly, honours the generations who stood strong, the stories that shaped this movement and the future led by young people growing up proud in culture and identity.

At EPC, we are passionate about providing culturally safe, compassionate and inclusive care for all. This NAIDOC week, weโ€™re celebrating it with a special morning tea, nature displays and a colouring competition using approved Indigenous designs, all organised by our amazing First Nations Engagement Team.

This is a time to reflect, learn and celebrate together and to continue our commitment to walking alongside First Nations peoples with respect, understanding and care.
