Every child deserves a space where their voice, their play, and their way of experiencing the world are not just accepted — but celebrated.

That’s exactly what we’ve created with Little Lions, our inclusive early‑years group co‑facilitated by a Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist.

In this warm, predictable, and sensory‑considerate environment, children are supported to feel safe and confident, knowing they can explore, connect, and grow at their own pace. Through play‑based, developmentally supportive activities, children discover their own ways of learning, communicating, and engaging with the world around them.

They’re encouraged to express emotions, preferences, and ideas, to celebrate their unique communication style — whether through words, gestures, signs, visuals, or play — and to build both fine and gross motor skills through rich sensory experiences.

Every play style is valued. Every communication form is meaningful. Every child is honoured for exactly who they are.

Little Lions also supports children to develop everyday participation skills, enjoy routines that help with regulation, reduce anxiety, and foster independence with a strong emphasis on self‑determination. It’s a space where difference is celebrated, shared experiences bring joy, and connection grows naturally.

And just as importantly, parents and carers are active partners in the journey. You’ll learn practical strategies through hands‑on modelling, receive personalised guidance from our OT and Speech Pathologist, and build confidence in supporting your child’s communication, play, and daily routines. You’ll also connect with other families in a relaxed, supportive community that truly understands.

Little Lions runs Mondays from 9:30–11:00am, with parents/carers attending alongside their child.
This group fills quickly — and for good reason.

Mealtimes can be one of the most stressful parts of the day — and it’s not always obvious why. Eating can be impacted by sensory differences (textures, smells, sounds), oral-motor skills, anxiety, or past experiences that made food feel unsafe. Some people also need support with swallowing, pacing, or fatigue, particularly with medical or developmental needs. At Peninsula Plus, we approach feeding support with a focus on safety, dignity, and reducing pressure — because shame and stress don’t help anyone eat well.

We look at the whole picture: the environment, routines, the body, the sensory system, and the emotional load at the table. Our aim is to help mealtimes feel calmer and more achievable, while supporting nutrition and participation in a way that fits your family.
If mealtimes feel hard, you’re not failing — you’re noticing.

At Peninsula Plus, inclusion isn’t a theme — it’s who we are. We celebrate neurodiversity, gender diversity, and individuality all year-round because every person deserves to feel valued, supported, and empowered in their own way.

June is Pride Month — a time to celebrate love, inclusion, and the right for every person to belong exactly as they are.

At Pen Plus, we honour the voices, stories, and identities that make our community vibrant. Pride is also a reminder of the power of authenticity and the courage it takes to show up, speak up, and live boldly.

We believe every story deserves space, every identity deserves respect, and every person deserves to feel at home in their own skin.

This month has reminded us that every voice adds value. Communication doesn’t need to look a certain way to matter. When we focus on understanding instead of correcting, the connection deepens. Thank you for learning, reflecting, and growing alongside us this month.

Everyday access matters — and it’s something we all help create.

Background noise, distance, lighting, fast speech, group conversations, masks, fatigue, and uncaptioned media can all impact how well someone can understand and participate.

Practical supports like facing the person, reducing noise, using visuals, repeating or rephrasing, providing captions, sharing notes, and checking understanding respectfully make a real difference.

Many children do their “hard stuff” at kinder or school — and then hold it together until they get home. That’s why support works best when families, educators, and therapists are on the same page (with consent and collaboration). At Peninsula Plus, we can support shared understanding around communication, regulation, participation, learning needs, and what helps a child feel safe and ready to learn. This might include consultation, observation, strategy-sharing, or practical adjustments that support inclusion without putting all the pressure on the child. We focus on what’s realistic in busy settings and what makes the biggest difference with the least overwhelm. When the environment fits the learner better, everyone benefits — including the adults supporting them.
If school feels like a daily battle, support can be built around the child — not demanded from them.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for learning, reflection, and strengthening relationships between Indigenous and non‑Indigenous Australians. It’s a moment to honour the stories, cultures, and resilience of First Nations peoples, and to recognise the role each of us plays in building a more just and connected future.

The 2026 theme, All In, is a powerful reminder that reconciliation is not a spectator sport. It calls every Australian to step off the sidelines, show up with respect, listen deeply, and take meaningful action—every single day. When we commit wholeheartedly, reconciliation becomes something we live, not just something we acknowledge.

Let’s go All In together: learning, reflecting, acting, and walking side by side toward lasting change.
