Hi Yogis,

The spiral as a symbol has many layers of meaning and is very appropriate for the logo of Unwind Body and Mind. Yes it looks like rolling out the welcome mat, or your yoga mat. But the symbolism of a spiral is so much deeper...

The spiral:
πŸŒ€ Is connected with movement, energy, and growth
πŸŒ€ Represents the cycle of life: birth, death, and rebirth
πŸŒ€ Is also symbolic of the spiritual path, we are continually growing and evolving
πŸŒ€ Going within to truly know ourselves and returning with power and wisdom
πŸŒ€ Is found in everywhere in nature and also within our bodies!

Through our body are myofascial lines: an integrated network of connective tissue which as well as having a physical function, also house our meridians that direct the flow of energy. Like a spider’s web, energy and movement are transferred through the myofascial lines from one part of the body to another, a release in one part of the line can effect all it is connected to πŸ•Έ

The myofacial spiral lines are opposing spirals of facia starting either side of the skull crisscrossing the body several times and also spiralling down each arm and leg. They help the body to maintain balance, create spiral movements (twists) and link in with the other myofacial lines.

In this week’s practice we will move gently with awareness untangling tension and creating space in our spiral lines which ripples through the whole myofacial web to bring a sense of ease to the entire body and being. I look forward to sharing it with you 😊

See you soon!

Much of the distortion (noise) we experience results from resistance, sometimes to something within us: a thought, an emotion, a memory ...

In meditation last week, we simply held space for ourselves. Acknowledging that what we resist (or ignore) persists, and by sitting with what is waiting to be seen, we give it an opportunity to be witnessed. Then the thought/emotion/memory is no longer stuck, it is able to pass through. This can be an uncomfortable process if difficult thoughts or emotions surface, but ultimately frees us from the dissonance.

When we do this we start to re-align all parts of us, reconnecting with our natural state of harmony, balance and ease. Another way to access our natural state is to go within. At our centre, a space of complete peace exists, and we can access it through consciously taking our awareness within ... to the heart space. It's a very different process.

One reason why I offer different types of meditation practices each week is that each one has it's own benefits, each one lands differently. A meditation practice that is most helpful in connecting with our inner peace is heart coherence. Research by the shows that heart coherence has many beneficial effects on us at a physical, mental, and emotional level.

I look forward to sharing this very simple but profound practice with you in our meditation circle this evening.

Good morning 🌞 happy

Gee I've met some incredibly wonderful people in this journey! Today I'm feeling grateful for our whole yoga community. Appreciating all the beautiful connections and friendships I've made over the last 5 years, as well as witnessing other friendships and connections form between yogis is something very special β˜ΊοΈπŸ’žπŸ™

πŸ“Έ Friday evening's 5th birthday social gathering, Me with:
1~ Kristan (couldn't wait for local yoga to start up, came to our very first class ... and almost every class and event since),
2~ Di (evening yogi and meditator who has also been with us from the very beginning), and
3~ Narelle (a morning regular since the very early days and a yogi from way before I came on the scene)

... grateful for you and everyone else who continues to show up!
(P.S. Apologies I missed a few selfies with the other yogis who came on Friday, only thought to ask at the very end of the evening)

What are you feeling grateful for today?

Hi Yogis,

Our spine is like the trunk of a tree: connects roots to branches and allows flow of nutrients/energy. It’s support for our whole body, integral to all of our movement.

The spine can move in several dimensions: extension & flexion (e.g. cat cow), laterally (e.g. banana) and also twists. Blockages and imbalances can affect: internal organs, nervous system, mobility of the associated limbs & the flow of prana life force energy.

Continuing our journey through the body, this week we will tend to our thoracic (upper) back which:
~ connects with, moves, and supports our neck/shoulders/arms,
~ supports our rib cage which protects the lungs and heart,
~ houses the heart chakra: the bridge between our physical life and our spiritual life which governs love empathy and relationships.

With a focus on the three types of movement, stretching, strengthening & mobilising, we will enjoy some back bends, forward bends, side bends, twists and more. See you soon!

This week marks 5 years since my first public yoga class at Karana Downs scout den. It’s a wonderful milestone which I’m feeling grateful for. Appreciating all that has been shared within our community, how we have grown, how we’re still here and still growing.

TBH I’m still trying to get a grasp on this miraculous journey. Maybe it’s because I’ve evolved so much in 5 years? What I teach and how is somewhat unrecognisable as compared with 2021.

One thing that has stayed constant is our focus. Yoga that's available to everybody. We do so much more than move our bodies! We breathe, relax, re-centre, re ground, refresh, reconnect with our natural state of calm presence and wellbeing together.

We don't do Insta gram yoga! We do real self care. We temporarily put aside all the stresses and responsibilities of life, and spend quality time with ourselves, held within the loving container of a community with common purpose.

If you have been thinking of giving us a go, please reach out we have limited spaces for new yogis and meditators to join our community. If you previously attended our sessions and haven’t seen us in a while, perhaps it’s time to check us out again and see how we’ve grown?

To those yogis who I affectionately call β€œpart of the furniture” thank YOU. Your regular presence is noted and appreciated. It truly is an honour and a privilege to be able to call this my livelihood, to support and hold space for you so that you can go back out into the world and do what you do with a little more calm and ease.

Special thanks to the yogi who in conversation last week got me thinking about this ~ Who am I? Who are we? Why do we exist? What do we co-create? (You know who you are)

If you have any feedback you would like to add, I would so welcome it :)

In deep gratitude,

Renee πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ’œ

P.S. ~ if you would like to join us to celebrate our 5th anniversary, we’re gathering at the Brisbane River Golf Club Karana Downs from 5pm tomorrow 14th. Whether you’re a regular, or sporadic yogi, or even if we haven’t seen you in a while we would love to welcome you.

If you dread the idea of coming to meditation because you believe it's purpose is to make your mind stop ... this post if for you!

Sitting to meditate with the expectation of not having any thoughts means that when a thought naturally arises, we try to make it go away, and so meditation becomes a battleground.

When we sit to mediate with the intention to hold space for ourselves exactly as we are, then we simply notice if we have an active mind allow the thoughts to arise and move through, and so meditation becomes a release from the weight we have been carrying 😊

If you think of a child seeking attention, the more you ignore them the louder and more insistent they become. When they get the attention they're happy and go on to the next thing. Our thoughts are the same. The paradox is that by allowing the thoughts the mind can clear them and eventually becomes more quiet.

It's only a slight shift in perspective which the mind can and will learn to do, it just needs some time and practice. Our weekly Wednesday meditation circle is an opportunity to do just that.

Good morning 🌞 happy

Today I am enjoying with gratitude that feeling of warmth from the sunshine on my back β˜ΊοΈβ˜€οΈπŸ’›

What are you feeling grateful for today?

08/08/2026

Hi Yogis,

How do you feel reading this quote? If you noticed resistance, suggest you pause, take a full conscious breath and read it again. How did it land this time?

This week we are focusing our awareness in our shoulders as we move and breathe 😊 Physically they're an intricate piece of equipment and attached via our muscles, bones and facia to much of the movement we do. Energetically, our shoulders represent how we hold our responsibilities.

Tight and/or sore shoulders can be a symptom of:
~ hunching over devices
~ holding on to things
~ seeing responsibilities as burdens
~ repetitive strain
~ stress and tension
... it can be physical, energetic, or a combination of both.

So do you ever feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders? Then this class is for you! As well as lightening up on a physical level, my invitation is to allow a shift in our perspective from feeling burdened to meeting what life has gifted us πŸ’πŸ’ͺπŸ™ƒ

🌟 Ekka public holiday ~ classes are on as normal this Wednesday. If you normally work but have the day off perhaps this is your opportunity to take some self care time? If you normally come but have other plans it would be great if you can let me know ~ Thank you! 🌟

See you soon!

Hi Yogis!

Today I want to chat about affordability.

For many years I talked myself out of going to yoga classes because I was tight for time and struggling financially. Now as a teacher, I am committed to offering accessible classes, which means so much more than adjusting poses and practices for each person's needs. It also means making access to yoga and meditation fair and equitable for those who may otherwise miss out due to their situation.

If this relates to you, please read on!

I am noticing the cost of living is rising and many are finding it harder to budget time and money for their self care, which is another blow to someone who is already struggling.

If I were able to help out with the money side of things would that be of benefit? (Sorry I can’t offer to come and clean your house so you can come to yoga/meditation!)

Or, are you in a position to help out another yogi who is less fortunate than yourself? Perhaps do you know a person or organisation who might sponsor such an initiative?

It’s been on my mind to create a β€œpay it forward” system, similar to what some coffee shops offer when you can pay for someone else’s coffee as a gesture of kindness. I'm kicking it off by donating a communal 10 class pass for yoga and also one for meditation. These can be used on a casual basis by anyone who really needs to come to yoga/meditation but doesn't have the available funds. If you're having a tight week or month, message me for instructions how to access a portion of these donated classes for yourself in a way that is discreet (nobody needs to know your business).

As teaching yoga is my livelihood, I am offering what I am able to within my own finite capacity. If there is a need for this offering on a wider basis I'll be looking for assistance in providing free sessions to those in need. If you have any feedback or suggestions on how to grow this initiative ~ Please reach out by text/email or stay and chat with me after class ~ Thank YOU!
