Doctors 4 Mudgee Region was proud to accept the HSEC People’s Choice award at the NSW Mining Annual Parliamentary Dinner.

A heartfelt thank you to Glencore Australia Ulan, Moolarben and Wilpinjong coal operations. Your funding and trust are helping bring more doctors, and better access to healthcare to our community.

Thank you also to NSW Mining and award sponsor Develop for recognising what we can achieve together.

An award to celebrate. A community to keep working for.

Congratulations to Glencore Australia Ulan Operation, Yancoal Australia's Moolarben Mine and Peabody Energy's Wilpinjong Mine on winning the NSW Mining Community Excellence Award for their joint support of the Doctors 4 Mudgee Region initiative.

This award celebrates something much bigger than healthcare, it celebrates the power of collaboration.
When local industry, healthcare providers, council and the community come together with one shared goal, incredible things can happen.

These are real outcomes that are changing lives across our region.

Thank you to Peabody, Glencore and Yancoal for believing in a community-led solution and investing in the health and future of the Mid-Western Region. We are truly grateful for your support.

Rural Australians deserve the same access to quality healthcare as those living in metropolitan areas. Your postcode should never determine your ability to see a doctor.

The recent AAP article by Stephanie Gardiner highlighting how Medicare is failing rural patients only reinforces why initiatives like Doctors 4 Mudgee Region are so important.

D4MR was created because our community could no longer wait for solutions while GP shortages worsened. It proves that community driven and funded initiatives are making the real difference.

Great to see the Mudgee Region is leading the way in community driven and funded solutions to the worsening GPs crisis in regional/rural areas. True change making at its best.

Australia's treasured Medicare system is not fit-for-purpose outside major cities, with rural patients disadvantaged and "invisible", an inquiry...

Thank you AMA (NSW) for bringing critical light to our program and championing change for rural healthcare equity.

BOOKS OPEN: A grassroots campaign to attract doctors to the state's central west has claimed victory today with medical centres able to open their books to new patients for the first time in 18 months.
The Doctors 4 Mudgee campaign, run by Kate Day, was featured in the Spring edition of NSW Doctor and has now attracted four general practitioners and six registrars to the region thanks to community support and funding.
But, as noted by AMA (NSW) president Dr Kathryn Austin in our article, the responsibility to ensure equitable access to healthcare should not fall on the shoulders of the community.
Kate Day agrees.
"Rural communities deserve the same equitable and timely access to healthcare as their city counterparts and are tired of being overlooked."
Congratulations to AMA (NSW) members Dr Spun Kongsirituwong, Dr Nathan Heijstee and Dr Peta O'Brien for joining the ranks in Mudgee.
