Rules tell a child what is needed to stay physically safe, relationally safe, and true to the values we want them to carry forward into the world.

Relationships build a child who can meet those expectations and recover when they don’t.

Rules set the boundary. Relationships are needed to help the boundary feel manageable, and hold on to the child with strength and warmth when the boundary feels like too much.

A child with a strong, warm, loving relationship with an adult is more protected from the hardest things the world can throw at them than any rule, policy, or programme we could build around them.

Rules are the map. Relationships are the way we get them there safely and with their hearts, minds, and spirits intact.

Perfection doesn’t build safety.
Return does.

Rupture is part of every relationship -
it’s what happens when two nervous systems meet, misread, miss, collide.

But it’s repair that teaches the brain
something deeper than getting it right: that connection can stretch, and still hold.

Children don’t need a flawless parent.
They need a parent who comes back - after the sharp tone,
the missed cue,
the moment that didn’t land.

Because in those returns, they learn something powerful: love doesn’t disappear when things get hard.
It repairs.
It stays.
It begins again.

‘I didn’t get that right. I’m here now. Let’s try again.’

This is how safety is built - not in perfection, but in the courage to return.

Thank you for sharing Finding Solutions 🙏🩷

The world is better with you in it.

In my lifetime, I’ve lost 5 people to su***de, all of them men.

And one thing I hear over and over again from people in the depths of depression is this:
“They’d be better off without me.”

If that’s where you are right now, I need you to hear this clearly…
We would NOT be better off without you.

I’ve seen the aftermath.
I’ve stood in school corridors filled with people crying, grieving, in shock.
I’ve felt the heaviness of “I wish I could’ve done something.”

The pain doesn’t disappear, it spreads.

That’s why it’s become a mission of mine to create spaces where people feel safe enough to speak their darkest thoughts, without judgment, and find a way through.

Su***de awareness isn’t just about a coloured ribbon, a painted tree, or a designated week.

It’s about the everyday moments.
Checking in on your mates.
Having the hard conversations.
Being kind, genuinely kind.

Because behind the smiles, so many people are fighting battles we can’t see.

If someone opens up to you, they don’t need you to fix everything.
They need you to listen.
To sit with them.
To remind them they matter.
And to support them in getting help, whether that’s professional support, movement, connection, or small changes that help them feel again.

Let’s make awareness something we live, not just something we post about.

Be kind. Be present. Check in.
You might save a life. 🤍

ANZAC Day – 25th April.

We honour those who have served our country and those who continue to serve our great nation. We think of all those impacted, both physically and emotionally.

Lest we forget.
