Today on World Family Doctor Day, we celebrate the theme “Compassionate Care in a Digital World” and recognise the incredible work of our GPs across Launceston and Tasmania.

Every day, family doctors combine clinical expertise with compassion, continuity and connection, supporting patients through every stage of life, often during their most vulnerable moments.

While technology and digital innovation are rapidly changing healthcare, the human relationship at the heart of general practice remains as important as ever.

Today is International Receptionists Day, and we want to thank our incredible reception teams.

Welcome Dr Ishani Chakrabarti!

Born and raised in rural Victoria, Dr Ishani relocated to Tasmania to complete her medical training, based in Hobart for the last 10 years. She has developed interest across a breadth of specialties, particular diabetes and chronic disease management, paediatrics and general preventative care.

Outside of work she enjoys reading, being out in nature, dog walking and playing table tennis.

Welcome Dr Emma Donovan!

Originally from Hobart, Dr Donovan completed medical school and junior doctor training in Launceston
and is pleased to continue her work within the local community.

She has a passion for comprehensive, family-centred care and has a particular interest in paediatrics and holds a Diploma of Child Health.

Dr Donovan also finds great satisfaction in chronic disease management and caring for older patients.

Outside of work, she enjoys baking, crochet, cross stitch, and exploring Tasmania’s bushwalking trails.

Originally from Sydney, Trent studied medicine on the Sunshine Coast before making the move to Tasmania to practise and enjoy the outdoors.

He has a strong interest in sports medicine, musculoskeletal injuries and chronic disease management, with a focus on shared decision-making and patient-centred care.

Outside of work, you’ll find him trail running, rock climbing, skiing or paragliding.

Trent will be working at both Newstead Medical & Kings Meadows Medical.
