Penguin General Practice is a bulk billing practice for Medicare-eligible patients. Please note that some appointments, procedures, reports and services are not covered by Medicare and ma
y incur a fee. Penguin General Practice is not accepting new patients. We are currently at capacity and are unable to add patients to our books. The practice page is used for general information only. Patients are reminded not to post personal health information or seek medical advice via social media. Patient privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times in accordance with the practice Privacy Policy
🚨 Medical Emergencies
No personalised medical advice will be provided via Facebook. If you have a medical emergency, please call 000 immediately or attend your nearest Urgent Care Clinic.
🌙 After Hours Care
For after-hours medical advice, please contact Healthdirect Australia on 1800 022 222. If urgent medical attention is required, please attend your nearest Urgent Care Clinic or Emergency Department.
🩺 Same Day Appointments
Same day appointments are available for patients who are unwell. Our reception team may ask a few questions about your symptoms to help determine the most appropriate appointment. If needed, they will discuss your situation with Dr Rachel Gaggin.
📅 Routine Appointments
Routine appointments are often booked up to 4 weeks in advance. If an appointment becomes available, patients on our waitlist will be contacted. Our standard appointments are 10 minutes. If you have multiple or complex concerns, please let our reception team know when booking, as a longer appointment may be required.
❌ Missed Appointments
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact the practice as soon as possible. We require at least 12 hours' notice. A $40 non-attendance fee may be charged for missed appointments or late cancellations. This fee is not claimable through Medicare.
💊 Prescriptions and Referrals
Prescriptions and referrals require an appointment with the doctor. We recommend booking your next appointment before leaving the practice or when collecting your final repeat prescription from the pharmacy. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to accommodate last-minute requests on the same day. If your matter is urgent and no appointments are available, please attend your nearest Urgent Care Clinic.

Email is not our preferred method of contact, as emails are not monitored regularly throughout the day.
