Its Myopia Awareness week!!!!!

Optometry Australia is excited to reveal its new Good vision for life campaign, which urges parents and caregivers to prioritise the eye health of the entire family to reduce the risk of developing myopia (short-sightedness).

It's a simple slogan; just three easy steps that will help protect young eyes.

Off Screens, Outside, Optometrist (OOO).

In just 15 years, HALF of Australians are predicted to have myopia (short-sightedness) – but we can help slow it down.

Reducing excessive screen time, encouraging at least two hours of (sun smart) outdoor play every day and visiting your trusted optometrist for regular eye exams is the best way to help your kids mitigate myopia and enjoy good vision for life.

Let’s make OOO part of every family’s routine!

With a special lens design, Rodenstock MyCon™ lenses for nearsighted children create sharp focus vision while they can ensure that myopia in children does not progress uncontrollably. The lenses are based on a lens technology with proven effectiveness from an independent external long-term clinical study* and can be applied to any child from the first diopter, even preventively.

Myopia Awareness Week has begun downunder!
It’s that time of the year again, when myopia takes centre stage in eye care. And rightfully. Myopia is the most significant eye health threat of the 21st Century.

Stephen's son Rohan is directing a short film for university and they are raising money through their gofundmepage to help make their project the best it can be. Below is a short description and video about the short film that Rohan and his team are very passionate about as it highlights the reality of living with Autism. If you can help out, any donations would be greatly appreciated and please feel free to share this post.

Thankyou!

We’re a crew of students raising money for our capstone project, a ten-minute short film that we’re all super passionate about and want the best for. The script for this film was developed over two years by our Director, Rohan Daly and encapsulates a beautiful story about a young man named Matthew with Autism.

Written in the likeness of a true story, our film highlights the reality of living with Autism as a young adult, as Matthew struggles with the change of his older sister getting married and moving away from home. We wanted to tell a tasteful story that gives a voice to both Matthew and his sister Emily, showing both perspectives of the big day.

If you donate, your money will go towards the production design and cast of our film, to make the scene we set look spectacular!

It’s important to us to tell a story that is a true representation of the disabled community and their families, as there are so few creative media that empathetically and respectfully tell their stories. There are even fewer that don’t vilify or shame their disabled characters. Our film endeavours to change this stereotype and we aim to knock it out of the park!

You can follow our journey on our socials:Film

Thank you so much for taking the time to hear about our film, and we hope you’ll be inspired to help out!
