BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2026

The message for Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026 is “Every story is unique, every journey matters,”

This campaign aims to inform that no breast cancer diagnosis is the same, no journey is the same and the ongoing push toward zero deaths from breast cancer through targeted Australian research.

1/7 women and 1/600 men in Australia will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

These cancers are more survivable than ever thankfully, but cancer removals and reconstructions still largely involve surgery, which can leave significant scars.

If you or someone you know has been through this journey, and the scars are a problem then talk to us at The Scar Clinic Perth on:

EAR HELIX KELOID SCARRING

These images show our 20 year old patient before and 2 months after two multi-modal laser and steroid combination treatments to her thick ovoid helical ear keloid scars caused by piercings.

The scar has significantly reduced in size and improved the contour of her ear.

These photographs are of an actual patient treated at The Scar Clinic Perth by Dr. Suzanne Rea who has given her permission for use of these images for education and marketing.

SCAR APPRECIATION DAY

Yesterday was scar appreciation day - a day all about raising awareness of all types of scars.

It’s also about highlighting the need for research and funding into treatments: such research made the use of CO2 laser treatments for scars possible.

We have previously highlighted that Harry Potter is one of the most famous fictional characters with a scar in modern literature - his distinctive red zigzag forehead scar itches and tingles in the presence of his nemesis Lord Voldemort.

If Harry wanted to make his scar less itchy and noticeable he could benefit from CO2 laser.

If you have a scar that bothers you in the way that it looks or feels then please get in touch with us for more information. For more information about all types of treatment for scars or to schedule a consultation contact us via:

C-SECTION SCARRING

These images show our 38-year old patient before and 2 months after a single laser and steroid combination treatment to her 5-year old thick, itchy c-section surgical scar.
She had previously had steroid injections alone for this with limited response.

After a single treatment the scar has flattened, and improved in colour and itch as there is less blood-filled scar tissue.
The colour will continue to improve now the scar is flat.

These photographs are of an actual patient treated at The Scar Clinic Perth by Dr. Suzanne Rea who has given her permission for use of these images for education and marketing.

SURGICAL SCAR REVISION

This image shows our 29 year old patient before, immediately pre-operatively with markings shown, 1 week and 6 weeks after a surgical scar revision to her upper lip hypertrophic scar, caused by a traumatic fall over 2 years ago.

This small, raised pale scar altered the profile of the upper lip and created a contour defect when at rest and in smile. The scarred upper lip mucosa was excised minimally and in line with her cupids bow to recreate the normal contour. The resultant scar is now flat and can be tattooed to restore the natural colour.

These photographs are of an actual patient treated at The Scar Clinic Perth by Dr. Helen Douglas whom has given her permission for use of these images for education and marketing.

Due to AHPRA regulations, comments have been turned off as any positive comments could be interpreted as testimonials. Thanks for your understanding.
