Something I want every new dad, partner, and support person to read. đź’›

When the mum in your life is struggling with breastfeeding, the most powerful thing you can do is not fix it — it's to help her get the right help.

That might mean researching a lactation consultant while she's feeding. It might mean making the call to book. It might mean sitting beside her at the visit and asking the questions she's too exhausted to ask herself.

Jack shared a review recently about bringing his wife to see me after a bad experience at the hospital. He talked about how she'd been feeling discouraged — and how the care and empathy at our session was on a completely different level. He said what stood out most was how kind and encouraging the session was, and the difference it made to her confidence.

You don't have to go through this alone. And neither does your partner.

Your Birth Story Belongs to You đź©·

Astory that begins long before labour, long before the first contraction, long before you hold your baby in your arms. It begins in pregnancy, in the quiet moments where you feel every flutter, every stretch, every small reminder that life is growing within you 🥰

You imagine what it will be like to finally meet them.
You wonder who they will be.
You picture the moment your baby is placed in your arms and the world shifts beneath your feet.

And then birth arrives. Sometimes it unfolds gently, sometimes suddenly, sometimes in ways you hoped for and sometimes in ways that take you by surprise. Birth can be powerful, emotional and deeply transformative. It can also be complex, unpredictable and full of moments that stay with you long after they have passed.

Yet no matter how your birth unfolded, your story is still yours.
It moves with you.
It becomes part of who you are as you step into motherhood in your own time and your own way.

You are not defined by the path your birth took, but by the strength that carried you through, the quiet strength that lived in you throughout pregnancy, the instinct that guided you in each moment and the power within that rises as you become a mother.

Motherhood is not a single moment.

It is a journey, an unfolding, a story that continues long after birth.
Every chapter matters, the ones filled with joy, the ones filled with uncertainty, the ones still being written.

Your birth story belongs to you and you deserve support, understanding and gentle encouragement in every step of your journey.

I talk about supply a lot. Because supply is almost always what's worrying mums most. đź’›

And one of the most underestimated factors in supply? The pump.

A hospital-grade pump isn't just a stronger version of a standard pump. It works differently. It mimics a baby's natural sucking pattern — the stimulation phase that triggers a letdown, then the expression phase that removes milk efficiently. That rhythm signals your body to keep producing.

The Spectra S1+ is the pump I reach for first when supply is a concern. Hospital-grade suction, inbuilt rechargeable battery, adjustable phases, closed system. It's the one that goes with you wherever you need to be.

Available to hire or purchase. IBCLC advice included.

This message made me stop and read it twice. đź’›

Kinjal reached out after her home visit to share her experience. She'd come to me at 7–8 weeks postpartum after a really rough start — conflicting advice on latch, a supply concern that turned out not to be a supply concern at all, and a pump fl**ge that was completely the wrong size. She'd been triple feeding, in pain at almost every feed, and was ready to give up.

She said what stayed with her most was the gentleness. The reassurance. Feeling like someone was genuinely on her team.

She's since recommended me to many of her mum friends. That's the ripple effect of proper support. It doesn't just help one mum. It helps everyone she tells.

If you need that support right now, I'm here. If you know a mum that needs support tag her in the comments.

What nobody tells you about the first week. đź’›

The first seven days of breastfeeding are the most important — and often the most confusing. Here's what's actually happening.

Days 1–3: Colostrum only. Small amounts, concentrated, exactly right for your newborn's marble-sized stomach. This is not low supply.

Days 3–5: Your milk comes in. Your breasts may feel full, firm, or uncomfortable. Feeding frequently helps regulate this.

Days 5–7: Feeding should start to feel more settled. If it doesn't — if there's pain, if your baby seems unsatisfied after every feed, if you're unsure — this is the moment to get support. Not in two more weeks.

The biggest thing I see go wrong is mums waiting too long. The earlier you get eyes on a problem, the easier it is to fix.

"No question is silly." That's something I say at every single visit. Because in those early weeks, the questions feel huge. đź’›

Jana reached out recently to share how her experience with me had gone. She talked about feeling anxious and overwhelmed during what she described as a really vulnerable time — and how she left feeling supported, heard, and cared for at every step.

That's the standard I hold every visit to.

If you've been sitting on a question because it feels too small, or too silly, or like you should already know the answer — please reach out or feel free to comment below. There are no silly questions. Only mums who deserve proper support.
