Stretch of the Week: Calf Stretch

Tight calves can contribute to foot pain, Achilles discomfort, shin splints, and even affect the knees and lower back.

Try this simple stretch:
βœ… Stand facing a wall.
βœ… Place your hands on the wall at shoulder height.
βœ… Step one foot back, keeping the heel flat on the floor.
βœ… Bend the front knee and gently lean forward until you feel a stretch in the back calf.
βœ… Hold for 20–30 seconds.
βœ… Repeat 2–3 times on each side.

The Bowen PAUSE

I wanted to share a little more about one of the unique parts of Bowen Therapy β€” the pauses between the moves β€” and why they are so important for your healing.

During a Bowen session, gentle rolling moves are performed over muscles, fascia, tendons, and nerves, followed by short pauses where I step out of the room or allow quiet rest. While it may seem simple, these pauses are actually a powerful part of the treatment.

The body does not heal best when it feels rushed or overstimulated. The pauses give your nervous system time to process the information from the Bowen moves and shift from β€œfight or flight” into a calmer healing state. This allows the body to begin resetting tension patterns, improving circulation, reducing stress, and activating its own natural repair processes.

Many clients notice that during these pauses they experience:
β€’ Deep relaxation
β€’ Muscle softening and release
β€’ Slower breathing
β€’ Improved body awareness
β€’ Emotional calming
β€’ A sense of β€œresetting”
