💙 National Diabetes Week 💙

This year's campaign invites people living with diabetes, along with friends, families, carers, researchers, health professionals, and clinicians, to complete the sentence: "I wish people knew..."

At CCA we wish people managing metabolic diseases including Type-2 Diabetes and Obesity knew the importance of losing fat and not muscle.

When managing diabetes and metabolic health, the goal isn't simply to lose weight - it is to lose excess body fat while preserving or building muscle, as muscle is the body's largest site for glucose uptake and plays a vital role in improving insulin sensitivity, metabolic health, and long-term function.

🧠 Could nearly half of dementia cases be prevented?

Research from Curtin University highlights that up to 45% of dementia cases may be linked to modifiable lifestyle and environmental factors. The article also explores why raising awareness alone isn't enough and how practical, community-based approaches can better support lasting behaviour change.

It's an insightful and informative read that reinforces the importance of prevention, education and taking proactive steps towards better brain health.

It's Men's Health Week!

The theme for 2026 is "See your GP", highlighting the importance of seeking support when something doesn't feel quite right with your physical, mental or emotional wellbeing.

The campaign also encourages men to take regular exercise. One of our Senior Accredited Exercise Physiologists would be happy to discuss an Exercise Medicine prescription tailored to you.
