Little fingers are learning every day! 🕷️

Next time you sing “Incy Wincy Spider” together, show your child the finger-to-thumb actions and encourage them to have a go.

It might feel tricky at first, but that is all part of learning! Give them time to practise, encourage them to keep trying, and celebrate their efforts when they get the hang of it.

Singing and moving together is a fun way to practise coordination while enjoying a familiar song.

Take a breath and hiss like a snake! 🐍

Try “snake breaths” with your child: take a deep breath in together, then breathe out slowly while making a long hissing sound like a snake. Repeat five times.

Making time to practise breathing together can be a fun way to build calming moments into your daily routine. You could even get creative and think of how other animals might breathe!

What animal will you try next?

It’s Book Week! 📚✨

Book Week is a great opportunity to celebrate stories and help make reading exciting for your child.

Try bringing their favourite stories to life together. Dress up as a favourite character, act out part of a story, use silly voices while reading, or ask your child to imagine a different ending.

Most importantly, follow their interests and have fun. Creating positive experiences around books can help make reading something your child looks forward to!

Reading happens everywhere 📖

Books are not the only way to build a love of reading. Try reading signs on a walk, choosing a recipe together, looking at a menu, or spotting letters and words while you are out and about.

These little moments can help children see reading as part of everyday life and make learning feel fun!

Let your child take the lead at story time 📚

Whether it is a brand-new story or the same favourite for the tenth time, letting your child choose what to read can help make story time something they look forward to.

Follow their interests, pause when they want to talk about a picture, and do not worry about getting through every page. Reading together can be just as much about the conversation as the story itself. 💛

Singing the "Alphabet Song" is a great way to help children learn letter names. 🎶

Letter Knowledge is an early literacy skill. It is recognising and knowing the names and sounds of letters. Singing the "Alphabet Song" and reading alphabet books is a great way to help your child develop this skill.

Bedtime is more than just a routine; it is a chance to connect and build language 🌙

As you get your child ready for bed, try talking them through what is happening: “night night clothes,” “night night lights,” “night night outside.”

Simple, consistent routines can help little ones settle more easily.
