Key Player Spotlight - Talia! ❤

A key player, a pillar, someone who has been admired and looked up to at Dovida Perth North East.

A heartfelt goodbye as Talia prepares for her relocation to Canberra, Australia.

"It has been an absolute pleasure to have worked with everyone, and I am incredibly grateful for the relationships I have built with the team over the last four and a half years.

Coming from a hospitality background, I never imagined that I would be able to make the impact that I have on some of the team members and clients.

It has been an amazing opportunity to see our team grow and develop over the years and to be a part of the Aged Care rollercoaster." - Talia

Talia joined on 28th February 2022, making this her 4th year with Dovida; formally known as Home Instead. Talia's charismatic energy and person-centred approach to supporting our client's, Dovida employees in all departments from office team members to our front line caregiver's and Associated Providers has brought together Dovida Perth North East's Circle of Care.

Talia has been an integral part of our journey; from being the Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator to People & Partners Manager at Dovida Perth North East. During the biggest changes amongst Aged Care and the transition to Support at Home.

We will miss you, Talia - Thank you for building the team and providing the extra support of administration services for our clients in our care, Dovida employees and Associated Providers.

Client Spotlight - Hugh and his wife Jan ❤

They have been with Dovida Perth North East formally known as Home Instead since April 2023 and July 2023.

Hugh and Jan have been married for nearly 60+ years with two children and two grandchildren. Hugh was a university lecturer, Jan says that both their children take after him and calls them “Bright Cookies”. She says, “They have always reached high in their academic goals”.

Over the years they have made some lovely friends that they now consider family “Sometimes it is the people you find through life that become some of the most important people in your life”.

At Dovida Perth North East we want to sincerely thank Jan and their family for trusting us as an Aged Care Provider.

With every ageing journey there comes moments where support and care is needed. Clients such as Hugh experiencing dementia, and Jan requiring ongoing flexible carer support. This is where Dovida Perth North East support most as part of their Circle of Care.

Hugh and his caregiver had created a sweet gesture for his wife Jan as a surprise, his words on a hand crafted card - "I am lost for words, my hands are shaking".

Associated Provider Spotlight - Concentric Healthcare 🌟

Dovida Perth North East office team had the pleasure on having one of our many Multidisciplinary allied health provider's present an oversight specifically on Speech Pathology.

Speech pathologists offer a wide range of services to assist individuals to improve their communication and swallowing skills.

They have speech therapists who are certified LVST LOUD practitioners - LSVT LOUD is an effective speech treatment for people with Parkinson's disease (PD) and other neurological conditions.

LSVT LOUD trains people with Parkinson's disease to use their voice at a more normal loudness level while speaking at home, work, or in the community. Key to the treatment is helping people "recalibrate" their perceptions so they know how loud or soft they sound to other people and can feel comfortable using a stronger voice at a normal loudness level.

We appreciated Speech Pathologist Josie and Occupational Therapist Shelby on delivering an insightful knowledge of key points on how to navigate further support for our clients in our care.

Welcome to The House of Honey - More Than A Simple Honey Shop!☕🍯

Companionship with a Caregiver doesn't necessarily have to stay within your home every week. Planning exciting and enjoyable outings are something that we do, to keep you connected within the community.

The House of Honey is an experience that we think should be discovered by all. Their doors are open to everybody, and they ensure that they offer a comfortable, safe, and inclusive environment for everyone with varying abilities and requirements.

After a lifetime of beekeeping experience, owners Rupert and Kim made their home in the Swan Valley in 2010. With bees under threat globally, the objective was to not only create amazing food experiences with a revolutionary honey showroom, but to create a bee sanctuary where bees are safe, and hives are sustainably farmed. They also opened with a goal to educate and raise awareness on why bees are so integral to ecosystems around the world, how to protect them and guide learning beekeeping how to practice their passion sustainably.

The City of Kalamunda and Kalamunda Compassionate Communities invite you to their free community event, Nobody Knows: Until We Talk About It – Understanding Death Anxiety and Planning Ahead.

This informative and engaging event features Taboo Education, exploring why conversations about death can be difficult and providing practical ways to reduce anxiety and plan ahead. It will be followed by Purslowe & Chipper Funerals, who will share practical information about funeral planning and the options available to personalise services.

Attendees can also visit information stalls showcasing local organisations and services offering support with end-of-life planning, grief, caregiving and compassionate communities. Lunch is included.

Caregiver Jennie - "Supporting Marion in her home is an absolute pleasure. When the sun is shining Marion is always keen to get out and enjoy a lovely picnic out in nature, which we both enjoy.

Baking cakes is a past time hobbies of Marion's and we both enjoy preparing her annual Christmas cakes for her friends and family. I feel so blessed to be able to assist Marion doing the things she enjoy most, we are both always learning new things from each other."
