Therapy Collab's Why

The reason we started Therapy Collab three years ago was to create a flexible, friendly working environment where people feel valued and supported. We believed that by fostering a positive workplace culture, our participants would also benefit from feeling valued, respected, and well supported.

We noticed that staff turnover is quite high within our industry, and that was something we were determined to do differently. Our goal was to create a workplace where people wanted to stay long term, allowing our participants to build meaningful relationships with their practitioners and experience continuity of support. We know that trust and consistency are important, and we wanted both our team and our participants to feel confident, connected, and supported every step of the way.

🌟 Understanding Behaviour in Children

When a child is yelling, refusing, running away, shutting down, or having a meltdown, it's easy to focus on stopping the behaviour.

But what if we paused and asked: 💭 What is this child trying to communicate?

Behaviour is often a form of communication. It can be a child's way of expressing unmet needs, overwhelm, frustration, anxiety, discomfort, or a need for connection when they don't yet have the words or skills to communicate it another way.

By looking beyond the behaviour and seeking to understand the message behind it, we can respond with curiosity, compassion, and support rather than simply reacting to the behaviour itself.

💙 Connection before correction 💙 Understanding before judgement 💙 Support before punishment

At Therapy Collab, we believe that understanding the "why" behind behaviour is key to helping children develop the skills, confidence, and support they need to thrive.

📋 What reports will I receive when engaging with PBS?

Positive Behaviour Support is a collaborative process, and along the way you'll receive a number of important reports designed to guide support and help achieve meaningful outcomes.

These reports help us understand the person's needs, identify strengths, reduce risks, and develop practical strategies that support quality of life.

✅ Interim Behaviour Support Plan
✅ Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA)
✅ Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan
✅ End of Plan Report

Each report builds on the last, ensuring recommendations are tailored, evidence-based, and focused on what matters most to the participant and their support network.

At Therapy Collab, we take a person-centred approach to every stage of the PBS journey, working collaboratively with participants, families, carers, and stakeholders to create meaningful and sustainable outcomes. 💙
