🥶 Why do old injuries seem worse in winter?
Have you noticed your knee, shoulder, back or old sporting injury becoming more noticeable during these cold Perth mornings?
You're not imagining it!
Cold weather can make muscles and joints feel stiffer, reduce blood flow slightly and increase our sensitivity to aches and pains. This can make previous injuries or arthritic joints feel more uncomfortable, especially first thing in the morning.
The good news is that increased soreness doesn't usually mean the injury has worsened or that damage is occurring. Often, a gentle warm-up and staying active throughout the day can help symptoms settle.
So if your body feels a little creaky during these 3–4°C mornings, you're certainly not alone!
❄️ Keep moving.
🚶 Stay active.
🔥 Give yourself a few extra minutes to warm up.
