Why does BV keep coming back - even after treatment??

New research from Australian scientists is shedding more light on recurrent bacterial vaginosis (BV) and why antibiotics don’t always break the cycle.

The study found two key pathways behind recurrence: reinfection from a partner, or BV persisting despite treatment. Researchers also found that women who hadn’t fully cleared the infection after antibiotics were much more likely to experience BV again within four weeks.

Now, the team is investigating whether longer treatment courses or combination antibiotics could offer a more effective approach to recurrent BV.

If vaginal infections could text you… this is probably what they’d say 🤗
