Not every NDIS referral is straightforward.

Some participants are ready for more independence, but they need the right structure.
Others require far more support than their current funding appears to recognise.
And this is where things can become challenging.

A family may already be exhausted.
A Support Coordinator may be trying to prevent a placement breakdown.
A participant may be living with risks that are not obvious on paper.
A provider may be trying to transition someone respectfully.

At Better Now Disability Services, we understand that complex referrals need more than a quick yes or no.
They need careful listening, honest planning, and practical support pathway.

When funding is limited or the situation is complex, our approach is to understand what is happening first:

What support is needed now?
What risks need to be managed?
What routines are breaking down?
What can be safely delivered within the current plan?

We support NDIS participants across Canterbury-Bankstown and Greater Sydney with SIL, SDA, STA / respite, ILO, MTA, daily living support, personal care, community access, and routine-based support.

Let's talk about Capacity Building Budget;

As you may see, on your NDIS plan, there is a category of funding towards Capacity Building.
It is to help you buy services to improve your skills, independence, and confidence so you can participate more fully in everyday life. It can support you to reach your goals at home, in the community, and at work or in education.

The focus is on building long-term capacity and achieving your personal goals, i.e developing the skills, confidence, and independence to do more for yourself over time.
This might include things like:
❀ Learning to cook healthy meals
❀ Improving social skills
❀ Managing money
❀ Preparing for work
❀ Program or activity to gaining confidence to get out in the community.

To make things easier, we’ve included some of the common terms you might come across for each Capacity Building category.
Your NDIS Plan may include funding in one or more of these areas.
