🇳🇵 ❤️ A very special Nepalese Day at Homewood Care ❤️ 🇳🇵

Yesterday, Homewood came together for a Nepalese Day in recognition of the devastating floods and landslides affecting communities in Nepal.

Our connection to Nepal is incredibly special. A large part of our Homewood team is Nepalese, and every day we see the kindness, compassion and genuine care they bring to our residents. The contribution of Nepalese workers across aged care in Australia is enormous, and our sector simply wouldn’t be the same without them.

Staff and residents joined in by wearing traditional Nepalese dress and bright colours, sharing food, culture and plenty of smiles, while raising funds for those affected back in Nepal.

To support the generosity of our Homewood community, Homewood Care will match every dollar raised, doubling our contribution to the relief effort. ❤️

Most importantly, the day was about standing beside our Nepalese staff and letting them know that when something affects their families, communities and homeland, their Homewood family cares too.

🎶🕺 What a performance! 💃✨

Yesterday, the wonderful Raquel took us back in time with a fantastic performance of the classics from the ’70s! 🎤🎵

But we’re not sure who the real stars of the show were… 👀 Our residents were up showing off their moves, and there were definitely a few who stole the spotlight! 😂💃🕺

We couldn’t possibly single anyone out — you’ll just have to watch and decide for yourself! ❤️

What a brilliant afternoon of music, dancing and plenty of smiles at Homewood! 🎶✨

🎂🎉 We celebrated two very important birthdays at Homewood today!

A huge Happy Birthday to the wonderful Nerilyn — our journalist to the stars ⭐️📰 — and the fabulous Stamata, our much-loved Greek leader! 🇬🇷💙

Two big personalities, two very special ladies, and one great excuse for cake! 🎂🥳

We hope you both felt very spoilt today. Happy Birthday, Nerilyn and Stamata! ❤️🎈

💛 R U OK? Day at Homewood 💛

Today is a reminder that checking in with someone doesn’t need to be complicated.

It might be asking a friend, co-worker or resident, “Are you OK?” It could be having a chat over a coffee, or simply taking a little more time to listen and have a more meaningful conversation.

Sometimes a simple check-in can make a bigger difference than we realise.

And of course, R U OK? Day also gives us a pretty good excuse to dress up in yellow and enjoy a few donuts! 💛

🎶 A very special afternoon at Homewood 💜

Yesterday we were incredibly lucky to welcome Sing Australia, who generously volunteered their time to perform for our residents.

What a performance! The beautiful voices, music and atmosphere genuinely left us with goosebumps. It was wonderful to see our residents enjoying the songs, singing along and sharing such a special afternoon together.

A huge thank you to everyone from Sing Australia for giving your time and bringing so much joy to Homewood. We are very grateful and hope to welcome you back again! 🎵👏💜

🥂 Sip & Social Afternoon 🎶

It was great to see our residents enjoying another wonderful Sip & Social together!

A nice Chardonnay (or two! 🍷), plenty of delicious yummies, good conversation and lots of laughs made for a fantastic afternoon.

We also enjoyed a sing-along to some classic tunes — and when Elvis came on, there were definitely a few hearts fluttering! ❤️🎸

Nothing better than good company, good music and a little something to sip on. 🥂

Bus trips, coffee outings, birthday celebrations, live music and plenty of smiles! 🎂☕🚌🎶💛

This week we celebrated Paul’s birthday, enjoyed some lovely coffee outings and were treated to a special performance from Sal, who had both his mum and mother-in-law here at Homewood to enjoy the occasion. ❤️

Sometimes it’s the simple things — a coffee, a day out, music, birthdays shared with friends and a good laugh — that are the best ways to make the soul happy.

Thursdays are always a popular day at Homewood!

Our exercise classes are a great opportunity for residents to keep active, have some fun and enjoy time together, with our physios John and Edsel doing a fantastic job looking after everyone.

Glenn also enjoyed his Personal Nursing Outing to Cronulla for a coffee, with Shresti joining him for the trip. It was a fitting spot for Glenn, who was a champion surfer back in his day, and a lovely opportunity to get back by the beach and enjoy some familiar surroundings.

🎬✨ Introducing the Homewood La Première Experience! ✨🎬

Last night we rolled out the red carpet for the very first La Première Movie Night at Homewood! 🍿🥂

Our residents enjoyed the full premiere experience, complete with a delicious three-course dinner:

🍽️ Entrée: Antipasto
🍕 Main: Pizza & pasta
🍧 Dessert: Sorbet

A special thank you to the wonderful Vickii, our beautiful usher for the evening, who welcomed everyone and looked after our residents so well. ❤️

And a big thank you to our kitchen team for putting together such yummy food for everyone to enjoy! 👏🍕
