What do you think is the most common injury at community sporting events?

If you guessed sprains and strains, you’re right.

From rolled ankles and strained muscles to minor ligament injuries, these are some of the most frequent presentations we see while providing first aid at local sporting events.

Quick assessment, ice, compression and the right advice can help get players safely off the field and on the road to recovery.

Whether it’s rugby, netball, soccer, athletics or school sports, our team is ready to respond when injuries happen.

This Men’s Health Week (15–21 June), we’re highlighting a sobering statistic.

Every day in Australia, around 50 men die from preventable causes.

It’s a powerful reminder of the importance of regular check-ups, early intervention and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.

Whether it’s booking a doctor’s appointment, making healthier choices or checking in with a mate, small actions can make a big difference.

Your health matters. Don’t put it off.

Every blood donation has the power to save lives.

On World Blood Donor Day, we thank the generous donors who roll up their sleeves to help people they may never meet. Their simple act of kindness provides a vital lifeline in emergencies, surgeries and ongoing medical treatment.

From all of us at Australia Wide Event First Aid, thank you to those who give so that others can receive.

We were proud to provide first aid support at the recent Warwick Pentathrun, helping keep competitors, volunteers and spectators safe throughout the event.

From the first start line to the final finishers, our team was on hand to respond rapidly and support the community during a fantastic day of endurance, determination and local spirit.

A big congratulations to everyone who took part and thank you to the organisers for having us involved.

CPR is one of the most valuable skills any parent can learn.

In a life-threatening emergency, knowing what to do in those first few minutes can make all the difference. Whether it’s a choking incident, drowning or sudden cardiac arrest, CPR gives you the confidence to act when it matters most.

What do you think the most used item in our first aid kit is?

Most people guess bandages, gloves or dressings, but one of the items we use most often is something much simpler: ice packs.

From sprains and strains to bumps, bruises and minor sporting injuries, instant cold packs are a staple at many of the events we cover.

It’s a reminder that event first aid is often about treating the everyday incidents that can happen when people are active, competing and enjoying themselves.

A fantastic turnout this ANZAC Day as the community came together to reflect, remember and pay their respects.

We were proud to provide event first aid support throughout the day and help ensure everyone stayed safe while attending the commemorations.

Thank you to all organisers, volunteers, service personnel and attendees who made the day so meaningful.

Heat exhaustion can creep up faster than you think, especially at sporting events and outdoor gatherings.

Early warning signs often include dizziness, headache, nausea, excessive sweating and fatigue. If left untreated, it can quickly become more serious.
If you notice these symptoms:

• Move to a cool, shaded area
• Sip water slowly
• Loosen excess clothing
• Rest until symptoms improve

At Australia Wide Event First Aid, we’re trained to recognise and treat heat-related illnesses before they escalate.
