We are a child-centred, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming practice based in Springwood, supporting children, young people, and families through play therapy, counselling, parent support, and therapeutic group programs.

Hi, Parents and Caregivers, our Playgroup "Little Birdies" is on every Monday (only during school term) at the Logan East Community Centre.

This months Theme will be Building!

Our playgroup is for children aged 0–3 years, as our space is better suited to younger children. Older siblings are still very welcome to attend; however, activities and toys will mainly be aimed at the 0–3 age group. We are now slowly introducing a rotational themed program to keep things fresh and engaging each week.

Friendships are established through playgroup, not only between children, but between parents or caregivers as well. One of the things that families love is that playgroup helps them to meet new people.

When: Every Monday (not public holidays or School Holidays)
Time: 9:30am – 11:30am
Where: LECNA Activity room
Cost: Free
Walk ins welcome

The playroom was a little quieter this week as Emily and Dawn attended QIPT's Workshop 3: The Tricky Bits.

Over four days they explored topics including ethics, attachment, identity, boundaries, treatment planning, and the complexities that can arise when supporting children and families.

At Curious Box, we are committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice. We believe that continuing to learn, grow, and deepen our understanding helps us provide the highest quality support to the children, young people, and families we work with.

A huge thank you to Sarah and the QIPT team for creating such a thoughtful and engaging learning experience.

We can't wait to bring this learning back into the playroom. 💜✨

🌿 Thank You, Springwood Community Kindergarten 🌿

Today we had the pleasure of attending the Springwood Community Kindergarten Open Day and what a wonderful celebration it was!

A huge thank you to Stephanie, the dedicated educators, committee members, and families who welcomed us so warmly. It was fantastic to connect with so many people, share information about play therapy, and watch children enjoy our Curious Adventures game and colouring activities.

We were especially honoured to be part of such a significant occasion as Springwood Community Kindergarten celebrates its 50th Anniversary. 🎉

For fifty years, this beautiful community has been providing children with a place to learn, grow, belong, and thrive. That is an incredible achievement and a testament to the passion, commitment, and care of everyone who has been part of its journey.

Thank you for inviting Curious Box Play Therapy to join your celebrations. We loved being there and look forward to continuing to support local children, families, and educators in our community.

✨ CURIOUS STARTERS – PREP READINESS FOR FUTURE SCHOOL EXPLORERS ✨

Starting Prep is a big milestone — and while learning letters and numbers matters, confidence, emotional regulation, friendships, and feeling safe in a group are some of the biggest predictors of a successful start to school.

🌟 Is your child starting Prep in 2027?
Our Curious Starters therapeutic prep readiness group is designed to gently support children in building the emotional and social foundations needed to feel confident, capable, and secure as they begin their school journey.

Curious Box Play Therapy Curious Starters is facilitated by a qualified teacher and play therapy practitioner and offers a safe, playful, and supportive environment where children can learn through connection, curiosity, and therapeutic play.

Over 8 weeks, children will be supported to:

🌱 Build emotional awareness and regulation
🤝 Practise friendship and social skills
✨ Grow confidence in group environments
🧩 Strengthen independence and problem-solving
🎒 Become familiar with routines similar to those used at school

Through play therapy techniques, guided group experiences, and therapeutic play activities, children can practise important school readiness skills in a way that feels safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
