Some exciting news!

Shannon, our Registered Nurse and Lymphoedema and Scar therapist, is hard at work further complementing her lymphoedema management skills. Her toolbox of therapies that already includes knowledge of management of oncology scars, will soon also be accompanied by caesarean scar therapies.

The best part…there are case studies to complete as part of the course!
This means that 2 ladies could benefit from 2 sessions of scar therapy each for their caesarean scar – if you suffer pulling or pain relating to your scar – then Shannon may be able to help!

Could you be suitable and interested?

• She needs to treat 2 patients (2 x sessions each), who have a caesarean scar and may have concerns, or pain in regards to their procedure and healing. You may have tightness or restriction in areas near your scar, or your scar may ‘pull’ or be puckered, you may even have altered sensations around your scar area.
• You must be at least 8 weeks after your caesarean surgery, and all wounds healed with no scabs present. Even if you are many years after caesarean surgery, scar therapy could still help you and relieve troubling symptoms.
• You must not have any haematomas, seromas, or infections at the surgery site, that you are aware of.
• You cannot be currently pregnant.
• You must be available for two sessions in June, each for around 1.5 hours (without children in tow if possible), and one week between the sessions would be best.
• The two sessions will be at no charge, and will occur in a GP clinic in Wodonga by Registered Nurse Shannon.

If you’re interested, have any questions or may know someone who could use Shannon’s assistance in helping relieve issues relating to their caesarean scar - just call the clinic and leave her a message and she’ll call you back with the information you request.

It’s a very gentle therapy and requires direct touch to your skin and scars’ and surrounding areas with Shannon’s bare hands, and perhaps the use of a negative pressure device (kind of like cupping, but very gentle) if appropriate. The therapy is not intended to be painful at all.

This Mother’s Day, we honour the women whose care, strength and love shape families, homes and communities every day.

To the mothers raising young children, supporting grown children, caring for loved ones, holding families together, and giving so much of themselves — thank you.

We also acknowledge those for whom today may feel difficult: those missing their mothers, mothers missing their children, and those carrying grief, hope, or longing in their hearts.

Motherhood comes in many forms — through birth, fostering, caregiving, mentoring, and unconditional love.

At Hospital Street Doctors, we see the quiet strength, resilience and compassion that mothers bring into the world every day — often in ways that go unseen.

Today, we celebrate you, we thank you, and we honour all that you do.

Wishing all mothers, grandmothers, carers and mother figures a peaceful and meaningful Mother’s Day.

From all of us at Hospital Street Doctors.

Tell us in the comments: what is one thing you’re grateful for about your mum or a mother figure in your life?
