Sydney, Coogee to be exact for the weekend.
Here to see and celebrate my people.

2 dear friends are turning milestone years, 70&80 and my youngest grandchild turned 4.

The spectrum is vast, the love is real.

This week in the Embodiment Lounge we explored the relationship between the shoulder blades, the first rib and the neck.

One simple question shaped our conversation afterwards:

What's the difference between lifting your arm and reaching with it?

One member described lifting as gathering herself to carry weight. Reaching felt lighter, longer and as though her whole body was coming along for the journey.

Then she said something I don't think I'll forget:

"I think we need both. One for raising children, and one for following dreams."

Later, another member shared, "As I lay on the floor, I realised I'd been longing for my own presence... and then, here I am."

I think many of us know that feeling.

These gentle lessons offer a chance to stop striving for a little while. There's nothing to achieve and nothing to get right. We simply become curious, notice what's already there, and allow our bodies the time they need to discover something new.

When we create more options in our bodies, we create more options in our lives.

If this feels like something you've been longing for, I'd love to welcome you into the Embodiment Lounge. 🤍

If your neck and shoulders often feel tight, heavy or tired, try this.

As you lie on your side, gently slide your upper arm forwards and backwards, letting it glide over your lower arm. As you do, bring your attention to the area just beneath your collarbone. That's where the first rib sits, quietly linking your neck to the rest of your chest.

Don't worry about stretching anything or making a big movement. Instead, become curious.

Can you feel your collarbone moving? Can you sense the first rib joining the movement? Does your neck begin to soften as your shoulder blade starts to move a little more freely?

This isn't an exercise to strengthen your neck. It's an invitation to help your nervous system rediscover how the weight of your head can be shared by your ribs, spine and the rest of your skeleton, instead of asking those small neck muscles to do all the work.

Sometimes just changing that relationship is enough for the neck and shoulders to begin letting go.

This is one small piece of the first lesson in our new Neck & Shoulders series inside the Embodiment Lounge.
Each week we explore another part of the puzzle, building on the lesson before, so your body gradually learns to move with less effort and more support.

If you'd like to join us for the live classes or explore the recordings in your own time, I'd love to welcome you into the Lounge.

Comment Billie and I'll send you a free lesson to help take the weight off your shoulders.

Cheers, Liz

How many years have you spent holding everything together?

For many of the women I work with the answer is decades.

You become the one everyone can rely on. You organise, anticipate, solve problems and carry the emotional weight of the people you love. Over time, your body can forget what it feels like to be supported.

As I lie here, the floor is supporting every part of me. I don't have to hold myself up. I don't have to achieve anything. I can simply notice what changes when I allow my body to receive the support that's already here.

It sounds simple, but for a nervous system that's spent years staying alert and carrying the load, this can be a profoundly different experience.

When we create more options in our bodies, we create more options in our lives.

If this resonates with you, I'd love to welcome you into the Embodiment Lounge, where we explore gentle Awareness Through Movement® lessons that help your body rediscover ease, support and freedom.

Sharing some recent client feedback from one on one sessions and Embodiment Lounge classes.
The second one is referring to a drive from SC to Brisbane that usually resulted in deep shoulder and neck pain.

Thank you for such an amazing session on Friday last week.
Liz I honestly floated out of my session and felt an enormous change for the better.

Just arrived in Brisbane with no shoulder pain for the first time for ages. you legend! Thank you.

Also wanted to say I felt so good after the class. I felt so much ease. I found I could get tasks done without any of that pushing sympathetic energy. I had a call from a friend that afternoon who noticed it also. She said 'she seemed really clear' which is exactly how I felt. Clear. It's funny - there was no other word for it.

Thought I'd share a few of the reviews my beautiful clients have taken the time to write.

If you've been on the fence about booking a session for persistent pain, nervous system regulation or to improve a skill you're already doing, one of these recommendations may speak to you.

If ten stars were an option, I would score Liz higher. I have completed the 5 session 1:1 and it is worth every cent and more. I am moving more freely than I have in years. Her techniques to address pain in the body are exceptional, and my movement and posture are akin to 16 year old me.
As an addit, I have also attended a Pelvic Potency Workshop with Liz, and would recommend this to anyone - irrespective of your "issues", my breathing had improved simply by retraining my diaphragm and PF. Thank you Liz!!

Liz has such a breadth of knowledge and experience, yet it is her genuine open humanity that defines her. I always have the sense that she is right in there with me as I learn, rather than being one step up as the teacher. This makes for a very warm and supportive experience that deepens the effect of the lessons and I always come away changed.

Yoga Teacher

Highly recommend Liz to help connecting mind, nervous system and body through her gentle, intuitive and skilled feldenkrais techniques. She has helped me hugely manage a neurological disease with improvements in my neuropathy and spasticity, and a sense of connection physically and emotionally.
Thanks Liz you're a keeper :)

I've attended several workshops with Liz, which have been so enjoyable and illuminating. She brings such a deep understanding of how the mind and body work together, which has helped me to solve some bad habits and find new healthier ways of moving. Highly recommend!

A unique and creative approach to nervous system regulation - using Feldenkrais practice. I always come away with a little more ease and self acceptance. Highly recommend spending time with Liz - such a wise practitioner!

I’ve been spending time with the feet lately.

We began this series by getting acquainted again.
Simply noticing where they meet the floor, where they hesitate, where they grip because they believe they need to.

The photo here shows the heel, the talus and the tibia.
They don’t stack neatly on top of each other.
They meet on angles.

So the foot was never meant to be a flat base holding you up.
It’s a translator between you and the ground.

Every step sends force upward.
The foot receives it, spreads it, and passes it through the bones of the leg into the rest of the body.
When this pathway is unclear the effort is felt elsewhere and movement becomes heavier.

Over the coming weeks we’ll keep exploring how the feet support us best in standing, walking, and all the other things we ask of them each day.

Ease in movement begins where you meet the earth.

Classes run in the Woombye studio each Mon and Fri 10-11am
There’s also a live Zoom option available each Friday through the Embodied Awareness Membership.

Membership is currently $20 a month and includes the weekly live class plus access to all the recordings as the library grows.

If this is of interest to you, join now as the monthly rate will be going up in the near future.

I’ve been noticing something lately, it isn’t always the amount of work that wears me down, it’s where my attention lives throughout the day.

My mind jumps from one responsibility to the next, holding everyone else in mind while my body quietly waits, tight in the background.

When my awareness stays there, I feel it.
My shoulders creep up, my breath gets shallow, and even when I finally stop moving, my mind doesn’t. Rest doesn’t land because I’m still everywhere else.

What’s helped me most has been learning to gently bring my awareness back into my body and into the moment I’m actually in.

Feeling my feet on the floor, noticing my breath as it really is, allowing my attention to settle where my life is happening instead of where it’s being pulled.

Even a small shift makes a difference.

If you’ve been feeling tired in a way that rest alone doesn’t seem to touch, it might be worth noticing where your awareness spends most of its time.

Sometimes peace of body and mind can begin there.
