Mind full? Or Mindful?

They look almost identical on the page, and most of us live somewhere in between, thoughts stacking up, one task bleeding into the next.

A large study across 37 sites and 2,000+ people found that brief, self-guided mindfulness exercises significantly reduced stress.

No retreat, no app, no hour required. 🌿

Before the week rushes back in, a few minutes of noticing where your mind actually is might be worth more than a few more minutes of scrolling.

Anxiety has a habit of running straight to the worst outcome and stopping there.

A CBT technique does the opposite too: confront the feared scenario, sure, but also imagine what genuinely goes right.

A 2024 study found that deliberately reworking worst-case mental images into more adaptive ones measurably improved worry and anxiety.

Picturing things going well isn't naive. It's a skill worth practising. 🌿.

This weekend, if your mind's already rehearsing what could go wrong, ... try giving 🌿 equal airtime 🌱 to what could go right 🙂 .

In loving memory of Adam Levy.

More than €4,000 has been raised in Adam’s name. This will go toward keeping the CHS Helpline confidential, free, and available, day and night, when the world feels too heavy to carry alone.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. Adam’s family and community have turned grief into something that will quietly go on helping people they’ll never meet, one confidential call at a time. 🌿

Thank you to Darkness Into Light - Belgium and everyone who gave, for honouring Adam’s memory this way.

€43,212. 😮 That’s almost a full year of the CHS Helpline’s running costs, raised by people walking before sunrise. 🌅

On 9 May 2026, hundreds gathered in Brussels, Ghent and Tervuren for Darkness Into Light - Belgium 2026, walking from darkness into sunrise in memory of loved ones lost to su***de, and in solidarity with everyone affected by su***de, self-harm and mental health challenges. 🕊️

Now in its ninth year in Belgium, organised globally by Irish charity Pieta. Ending Su***de. Beginning Hope

Keeping a confidential, 24-hour Helpline running depends entirely on donations like these. 📞 This single campaign came close to covering it for an entire year. 🙌

Thank you to everyone who walked and donated 🙏, and to Darkness Into Light Belgium for a partnership that keeps this Helpline going. 💙

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

Connection isn’t just a nice moment, it’s protective. A 2026 study found that genuine social connection and inclusion function as real protective factors for young people, not just pleasant extras. 🪴

Don’t assume someone’s okay just because they look it. If someone’s crossed your mind lately, that’s reason enough to ask. 🌿

🔸 Myth: there's always a clear warning sign before someone takes their life.

🔹 Truth: many people who die by su***de show no obvious warning signs at all, and the signs that do exist often differ by age and s*x.

A 2025 population-based study found that traditional markers like a prior attempt or a psychiatric diagnosis are absent in many su***de deaths, making risk far harder to predict than most people assume.

Researchers also found that some signs clinicians rely on, like recent contact with mental health services, are more common in women and younger people, meaning older men in particular can fall through the gaps entirely.

This isn't a reason to feel powerless. It's a reason not to wait for a sign before checking in. If someone's crossed your mind lately, that's enough of a reason to ask. 🌿

🔸 Myth: gently asking a struggling child about su***de could put the idea in their head.

🔹 Truth: research consistently finds the opposite. Asking gently, sensitively, and in the right context doesn't increase risk, even in children as young as 8.

It's one of the most protective instincts a parent has: don't say the word, don't risk it.

A study following 194 preadolescents over 12 months, some screened monthly, some weekly depending on risk level, found no evidence that repeated, direct questions about suicidal thoughts increased those thoughts in either group.

This isn't a case for raising the subject with every child out of nowhere. It's for the moment a parent, teacher, or caregiver already senses something is wrong, and hesitates anyway. In that moment, asked gently and with care, the conversation isn't the danger. Staying silent is. 🌿

World Su***de Prevention Day, 10 September.

🔸 Myth: asking about su***de plants the thought.

🔹 Truth: silence does more harm than the question ever could.

It's one of the most common fears people have: "What if I ask and make it worse?"

Research says the opposite, asking someone directly if they're thinking about su***de does not increase the risk. It can actually help.
