Peace isn't always something you protect. Sometimes it's something you slowly find your way back to.

If you've been carrying a lot lately, that's worth paying attention to.

Self-care has gotten a little lost in translation.

Somewhere along the way it became another thing to optimize β€” another routine to build, another habit to track, another area where you're not quite doing enough.

But that's not what it is.

Real self-care is quieter than that. It's noticing when you're running low before you hit empty. It's letting rest exist without having to earn it first. It's recognizing that struggling doesn't make you someone who's failing β€” it makes you someone who's human.

It's less about adding more to your life, and more about developing a different relationship with yourself. One where your needs are allowed to matter.

That's a slower process than a morning routine. But it tends to actually last.

Perinatal mental health doesn't always look like what we expect.

Sometimes it's low mood after birth. Sometimes it's intrusive thoughts that feel impossible to say out loud. Sometimes it's grief over a pregnancy that didn't go the way you hoped β€” and not knowing where that fits or whether you're "allowed" to feel it.

There's no single version of this experience. And many people carry it quietly, wondering if what they're feeling is normal or if they're the only one.

You're not.

If something has felt off β€” before, during, or after pregnancy β€” it may be worth exploring with someone who understands the full picture. Our blog walks through what perinatal mental health can look like and what support is available.

Caregiver burnout doesn't always look like collapse.

Sometimes it looks like functioning β€” but barely. Like going through the motions while part of you wonders how much longer you can keep this up.

If you're the one people lean on, it can be hard to know what you actually need. This carousel is for you.

World Maternal Mental Health Day is Wednesday β€” and it's one worth pausing on.

Perinatal mental health refers to the emotional and psychological wellbeing of people during pregnancy and in the year after birth. It's a window of profound change β€” in identity, body, relationships, and sense of self.

And yet it's a time when many people feel they're supposed to be glowing, grateful, and fine.

Anxiety, overwhelm, grief, and disconnection during this season aren't signs that something is wrong with you as a parent. They're often signs that something enormous is happening β€” and that you're carrying it with very little room to put it down.

If part of you has been wondering whether what you're feeling is "normal," or whether you're allowed to need support β€” you are.

We've been quietly growing over here β€” and we're ready to make it official.

Abby Reist has joined the Hope Harbour team as an Independent Contractor, and we couldn't be more glad to have her.

She brings strong clinical insight alongside a warmth that tends to put people at ease quickly. Thoughtful, grounded, and deeply aligned with the kind of care we believe in β€” she's a genuine fit.

If you've been waiting for the right therapist, or wondering whether now might be the time to reach out, this might be worth a look.
