Meet Nicole — Registered Social Worker and one of the warm, grounding presences on our team at Psychotherapy & Healing Hub. 🌿

Outside of sessions, she’s a Gilmore Girls comfort-rewatch enthusiast, currently reading What My Bones Know (a powerful memoir about healing from complex trauma — very on brand), and a firm believer that stepping outside can shift almost anything.

She also offers Walk & Talk Therapy — because sometimes the best conversations happen in motion. 🐾

We love having her here. Say hello! 👇

I want to send a huge thank you to Brighton Up. ❤️🤗

📖 ✍️ Rewriting the Script at 78 Main Street

There is a beautiful, century old building in the heart of town that has lived a thousand lives. Over the years 78 Main Street in Brighton, Ontario, has worn many hats. It has been a restaurant, a wine bar, a lawyer’s office, a charity shop and even the original home of Lola’s Café! If these walls could talk, they’d tell a beautiful layered history of Brighton residents gathering, sharing and connecting.

Today, the building is home to Lisa Pedersen and the wonderful team at the Psychotherapy and Healing Hub, who are celebrating two years of helping our community heal, grow and thrive!

But because history has a sense of humour, it also comes with a small, enduring local mystery... 🕵️‍♂️✨

At least once a week, a well meaning neighbour walks through their front door, takes a deep breath of the calming atmosphere and asks where the exercise bikes are. Yes, it turns out 78 Main Street is frequently confused for the physiotherapy clinic just a few doors down!

While Lisa and her team can’t help you adjust your ultrasound settings or fix a torn rotator cuff, they are absolute experts in a different kind of heavy lifting…The Power of Narrative Therapy.

The Hub operates through the lens of Narrative Therapy. This is the deeply impactful idea that the stories we tell about ourselves and the labels we carry, shape exactly who we become.

Rewriting the Script:
If you are feeling stuck in an old narrative that no longer serves you, Lisa and her team work with you to gently untangle those chapters and help you write a brand new, empowering storyline. 🌟

A Safe Space:
While they love a good community tale, absolute confidentiality is the bedrock of their practice. Your story is entirely safe in their hands. 🫶

Rooted in Brighton:
They have spent the last two years lifting up our community, one chapter at a time and they plan to be a fixture here for many years to come! 🕊️

Meet the Co-Authors of Your Next Chapter (And the In-Session Reality) 🖊️

Fixing the messy storylines of our lives is too big a job for just one person. That's why the Hub has assembled an incredible line up of highly qualified, brilliantly credentialed professionals who are ready to help you edit your internal dialogue!

But what does a session actually look like with these local legends? Let's take a peek behind the curtain at the team and their impressive credentials:

🌹Lisa Pedersen, MACP, Registered Psychotherapist (RP) & Founder:
Lisa is the master of helping you rewrite your life script. Armed with her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a typical session with Lisa involves deep emotional breakthroughs - unless you both accidentally look out the window, spot someone parking horribly on Main Street and spend a solid ten minutes collectively analyzing the psychology of poor parallel parking. She will gently guide you back to your goals, but she completely understands local distractions!

🐉 Matthew Brown, Registered Social Worker (RSW):
Our go to guy for navigating heavy family plot twists and relationship dynamics. Matthew is a narrative therapy wizard who runs deeply cool group sessions including a Dungeons & Dragons therapeutic social skills group for teens! In a session with Matthew, you might be right on the verge of tears unravelling your existential dread, when suddenly your stomach lets out a roar so loud it shakes the historic century old foundation. Matthew won’t skip a beat, he’ll smoothly validate your vulnerability while sliding a box of tissues and an emergency granola bar across the table!

🍃 Nicole Damery, MSW, RSW:
Nicole brings a beautiful, holistic mind-body framework to the Hub, combining tools like CBT, DBT, and ACT to help you reconnect with your most authentic self. She specializes in women’s mental health, navigating big life transitions and overcoming the old chapters that keep you stuck. A session with Nicole is a masterclass in safety, warmth and deep alignment; Especially if you opt for one of her outdoor "walk and talk" sessions! In that case, you’ll be deeply immersed in grounding nature, breathing in the fresh air and stepping confidently toward emotional resilience…right up until a rogue, overly enthusiastic local goose completely cuts off your train of thought. Nicole will effortlessly loop the goose into a metaphor about establishing firm personal boundaries, making you feel completely grounded and naturally supported the whole way!

🌼 Stephanie Percival, Registered Psychotherapist (RP):
Ready to jump into the trenches to figure out why your internal narrator keeps acting like a villain instead of a friend. If you find yourself accidentally slipping into a full 20 minute rant about the local traffic circle or how your partner loads the dishwasher completely wrong, Stephanie will enthusiastically validate your boundaries and make you feel like a structural genius for your kitchen organization theories!

🪻Krista Sickinger, MACP, Registered Psychotherapist (RP):
An absolute powerhouse in integrative care, Krista brings an incredible background in clinical psychology, behavioural science and even mindfulness and yoga! She is a wizard at supporting neurodivergent individuals and helping clients build emotional resilience.
In a session with Krista, you might be deeply connected to your inner zen and cultivating beautiful emotional balance, when you suddenly notice you’ve been absentmindedly trying to mimic her yoga alignment right in your chair. She won't judge your spontaneous stretching; she'll just celebrate your dedication to embodiment - even if you have a massive cramp in your big toe!

🌈 Vivian Simone, Registered Psychotherapist:
Vivian offers a beautifully warm, non-judgmental, relational approach, specializing in everything from trauma healing to strengthening emotional regulation and navigating complex family dynamics. A session with Vivian is a safe harbour for deep self-reflection…until you look down and realize you've spent the last 15 minutes twisting the fringe of their cozy office blanket into a series of incredibly elaborate, high-anxiety tiny braids. Vivian will simply hold space for your fidgeting with total validation and care!

So, if you’re looking to strengthen your emotional core, unpack a heavy chapter or simply step into a space that honours where you've been and where you're going, give them a shout! And hey, if you accidentally walk in looking for a hamstring stretch, don't worry, they’ve grown incredibly fond of the confusion and they’ll happily point you in the right direction! 😉
