When Debora, our Vernon Operations Manager, spotted walkers on a community needs list for wildfire evacuees, she didn't hesitate. She headed back to the office on her day off, checked the stock, and called up Britni at Southward Medical Supplies, a fellow local dealer.
They put their heads together, and what followed was a van full of donated equipment, coordinated between two businesses that are technically competitors but neighbours first. Where one had gaps, the other filled them.
Debora rounded things out with a box from the Dollar Store - bandages, Q-tips, brushes, combs, even a few things for pets.
Right as they finished unloading, Jim, an evacuee from Newport Beach on Westside, came in needing a walker, which we were able to provide for him. He'd left home with nothing but the clothes on his back.
To the communities affected by the fires across the Vernon region - you are not alone. 💙
