🎉 It's a boy! 🎉

I typically take only 3-5 families into my practice every month, so it was exciting (and unusual) when 3 baby boys were born within 24 hours of each other!

Each family had their own birth story, each mama did an amazing job, and each baby boy is delightful from head to toe. 💙

👏 Our team celebrated our 3 year anniversary last month!👏

No better way to celebrate than with a yin yoga class led by . She clearly knows what we need as perinatal providers as she talked us through a long yin hold with this blessing.

She finished our class with these words that I'll be coming back to in the future:

For this moment, there is nothing to solve.

No one to care for.
No questions to answer.
No plans to make.

The support you offer others can rest for a while.

Allow yourself to receive the same compassion, patience, and kindness that you so generously extend to those around you.

😁 Christine is coming home soon! 😁

We have really missed Christine this past year. She'll be returning from her adventures in Europe and beyond, and will be back in clinic beginning July 6th. Her online booking schedule is already open, so you can book there when you are ready.

As a reminder, Christine is a pelvic health physiotherapist here to help in pregnancy and post partum, and so much more! She also works with hypermobility, pelvic pain, mastitis/blocked ducts, infant physiotherapy, and even just your regular injuries, aches, and pains!

Our team can't wait to welcome her back in July!

📣 There is a publicly funded pilot program offering chiropractic care for Albertans with low back pain! 📣

The program is open to patients under the care of a physician within the Calgary Foothills Primary Care Network, so Dr. Ooi is excited to be able to refer her pregnant and postpartum mamas.

To be eligible you must:
✔ Have persistent or recurring low back pain
✔ Be 18 years or older and live in Alberta
✔ Not have chiropractic coverage through extended health benefits OR have alreadu exhausted them

📌 The pilot only runs until summer 2026
📌 Up to 8 visits over 90 days are provided at no cost
📌 A referral from a CFPCN physician is required
📌 Appointments are at one of four participating clinics

🥄 Let's learn about responsive feeding and how it can support healthy nutrition, happy mealtimes, and family connections.🥄

Responsive feeding means watching for, recognizing, and responding to your baby's mealtime cues. This can be an adjustment for those of us raised in 'finish everything on your plate' households.

Our feeding therapist, Laura Sawers, breaks down responsive feeding at different stages in the first couple of years, and provides helpful resources. Link in bio!

🚺 Our postpartum group this week focused on recovery and pelvic floor health. 🚺

We covered concepts such as:
🔀 Linking breathwork to pelvic floor function
🔀 Awareness of the 'cylinder' of muscles that connect with the pelvic floor
🔀 Different types of pelvic floor dysfunction - it's not just weakness!
🔀 The importance of upper body mechanics in parenthood

And we answered questions, including:
❓ What symptoms are normal at this stage?
❓ What is diastasis recti and what does it mean?
❓ What happens in a pelvic floor physiotherapy appointment?

Finally, we shared ideas on how to maximize parent rest, including our pro tip about nighttime diaper changes. 😉

🧩 We are all made up of so many parts. 🧩

Internal Family Systems work helps you to explore the different parts that make up your personality, finding ways to care for all of them - even the ones that can be difficult to hold.

Our therapist, Caitie Jane, has extensive training and experience in IFS work. She finds that an IFS approach can help her clients process the wide range of emotions that come up through the transition to parenthood.

the real foundation for a baby’s development. ✨

We are thrilled to announce a new class offering at Ensemble!

Bringing Baby Home is an evidence-based program developed by relationship experts Drs. John and Julie Gottman. Expecting couples and new parents will learn how to:
• Strengthen your partnership for your baby’s developmental foundation.
• Enhance relationship satisfaction in early parenting phases.
• Use sensitive, responsive parenting tactics.
• Coordinate effectively with family members for support.
• Maintain both parents’ active involvement with baby.

This course is offered in-person in our meeting room over six 2-hour sessions.
Our first group runs from 11am-1pm between April 13-June 1, 2026.

👶🏼 It was 'bring your baby to work day' for our Sleep Consultant Melody this week. 👶🏼

Our winter group is in full swing, and it was Melody's turn to lead her session on newborn sleep. Her little (not so little!) one, Judah, is 5 weeks old and fit right in with the babies in the group who are now 1-3 months old.
