The larches are out.

If you've seen them, you know that golden glisten wakes up a kind of magic inside us, and I think that magic deserves our attention.

We're so lucky here in Alberta. Crisp fall days, big blue skies, parks still holding onto a little green while the trees turn gold all around you. Today was one of those days, and it reminded me how gently we're allowed to fall into change.

Enjoy the quiet. Notice the soft moments.
Take a slow walk, a deep breath, a pause just for you.
That's where we find our way back to ourselves.

As summer loosens its grip and the light turns golden, our bodies feel the shift too. Cooler mornings. Slower evenings. A quiet invitation to come back to ourselves.

Your lymphatic system is one of the gentlest teachers of this. It doesn't rush. It moves with the lightest touch, just beneath the skin, carrying away what no longer serves you.

The word student comes from the Latin studere โ€” to be eager, to strive toward, to devote oneself. It was never meant to describe a beginner. It describes a posture: open hands, open attention, a willingness to be shaped.

There's a quiet secret in this work โ€” the moment someone steps forward to learn, they hand their teacher something rare. A student massage isn't a lesser session. It's an exchange. The student brings presence and hunger to understand the body; the practitioner, in offering guidance, is reminded why they fell in love with this work in the first place.

Everyone in the room becomes a student again.

It has been long known by CLTs... radiation is the gift that keeps on giving. These images show truncal cording in a client who had breast cancer 4 years ago. Recently presenting... Years after treatment ended.

That's the part that catches people off guard. Tissue can seem fine... settled... for years. Then, without warning, it tightens. Pulls. Cords.

What you're seeing are fibrotic bands. Taut. Rope-like. Sitting just under the skin โ€” sometimes felt before they're seen.

Bodywork is an incredible transmuter. The energy we exchange with our therapists is the difference between the shift that takes place and the stagnancy we settle into.

When you come in for bodywork โ€” especially lymph work โ€” there are so many things you can be sure of: your body, at some point, will decide to shift. No matter what, that fluid which carries all our history, emotions, and hormones is going to process it.

The same can be said for massage. We are powerful electromagnetic creatures, and our nervous system and muscles remember... the hurt, the trauma, the pain. The fascia and muscle, plus the nervous system โ€” particularly the autonomic system โ€” regulate fascial tension, meaning stress and physical restrictions can mutually reinforce each other.

So know that when you land on our tables, we hold that intentional understanding as manual therapists.

We also hold space for a laugh, tears, or quiet. It's all therapy.

Esthetics have run away from us.

Even we ran away from ourselves and for many people, what I have found in conversation is that they are seeking simple. Seeking touch, seeking connection, seeking a moment of clarity or release.

Facials don't have to be so clinical, they can be soft and grounded helping us deepen into ourselves or drift from ourselves if necessary and when you incorporate bodywork, into your facial, well that is just something else.
